Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other.  We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

Build the Future of Caterpillar's Global Footprint

Are you ready to lead complex, high-impact facilities projects that shape the future of one of the world's most recognized industrial companies?

Caterpillar is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Project Leader to join our corporate Global Facilities Planning team. This role offers the unique opportunity to lead the planning, design, and construction of major capital projects across North America and around the world. From advanced manufacturing facilities and distribution centers to innovative office environments, you will play a critical role in delivering projects that directly support Caterpillar's global business strategy.

As a trusted advisor and facilities expert, you will work alongside senior leaders, internal stakeholders, and industry partners to solve complex challenges, implement innovative facility solutions, and help define the future workplace and manufacturing environments of Caterpillar across a diverse portfolio of domestic and international projects.

Why Join Our Team?

  • Lead projects that have visible enterprise-wide impact.
  • Manage multimillion-dollar capital investments across a global portfolio.
  • Collaborate with experienced project managers and engineering professionals recognized as subject matter experts throughout Caterpillar.
  • Influence facility standards, engineering best practices, and project delivery strategies across the enterprise.
  • Work on projects spanning manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, research, and office facilities.
  • Gain international experience while partnering with teams around the world.
  • Help drive innovation, sustainability, workplace transformation, and operational excellence.

About the Role

As a Senior Facilities Project Leader, you will be responsible for managing complex facilities initiatives including office developments, warehouse and distribution facilities, manufacturing support projects, workplace transformations, and other enterprise capital investments. You will partner closely with business leaders, engineering teams, consultants, contractors, and external service providers to deliver projects that enhance Caterpillar's operational capabilities and employee experience.

This position requires a highly organized and strategic project leader who thrives in complex environments and can successfully manage multiple projects, stakeholders, budgets, schedules, and priorities simultaneously.

You will interact with senior business leaders, Real Estate and Facilities teams, architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and external partners while helping shape the future footprint of Caterpillar's global facilities portfolio.

The ideal candidate combines strong project management capabilities with experience leading large-scale capital projects, influencing diverse stakeholders, and driving execution across complex organizations.

What You Will Do

Capital Project & Program Leadership

  • Lead planning, design, construction, and occupancy activities for large-scale facilities capital projects.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects ranging from office renovations to major warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing support facilities with investments exceeding $10 million in construction value.
  • Establish project scope, budgets, schedules, execution strategies, and governance frameworks.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify, escalate, and mitigate project risks.

Consultant & Contractor Management

  • Manage external consultants, architects, engineers, contractors, and service providers.
  • Review project deliverables, schedules, budgets, and construction activities.
  • Coordinate stakeholder expectations and ensure accountability across project teams.
  • Support contractor selection, procurement activities, and contract administration.
  • Drive project execution and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership

  • Partner with Facilities, Real Estate, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Operations, Environmental Health & Safety, and business leaders.
  • Translate project impacts into business outcomes and actionable recommendations.
  • Present project updates, business cases, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Facilitate alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Ensure projects support long-term enterprise and operational strategies.

Governance, Planning & Continuous Improvement

  • Support capital planning, portfolio management, and investment prioritization activities.
  • Develop project controls, reporting tools, and governance processes.
  • Promote best practices in project delivery, cost management, and risk mitigation.
  • Support workplace modernization, facility optimization, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts that enhance project execution, governance, and facilities engineering processes.
  • Promote Caterpillar standards for safety, quality, sustainability, compliance, and financial stewardship.
  • Share knowledge and mentor others through technical leadership and best-practice development.

What You Have

Basic Qualifications
