Summary of Job Duties:
This position is located at the UAMS Health Benton/Bryant location.Works under the general supervision of the Chief of Police and the direct supervision of the Sergeant. Responsible for enforcement of traffic control, criminal laws, and parking regulations. This position is governed by the Law Enforcement Standards of Arkansas and UAMS Policies.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma / GED required.
Be certified by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Training Academy as a Police Officer or become certified within one (1) year of employment. (Possibility of a one-year extension).
Be at least 21 years of age.
Current and valid Arkansas driver’s license.
Ability to communicate and maintain a good rapport with the campus population.
Engages in and maintains control of situations/persons through use of minimal force needed in required situations.
Able to pass a medical physical examination.
Able to pass a psychological examination.
Ability to walk 8 to 12 miles in an 8-to-12-hour shift.
Ability to climb stairwells.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates degree or higher.
Basic knowledge of computers.
General knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
Critical Competencies and Skills:
Knowledge of law enforcement practices, methods, and techniques
Knowledge of traffic and criminal laws, and departmental regulations and procedures
Maintains control of persons by use of minimal force needed in required situations
Skill in the operations of fire arms
Possesses basic computer skills with a general knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Ability to properly prepare and write police reports
Communicates and maintains a good rapport with the campus population
