Job Description:
The Senior Associate, National Video Investment is the day-to-day focal point to the account. The primary responsibility of the Senior Associate is to negotiate cost efficient schedules on behalf of the clients. Supported by the Associate, National Video Activation, the Senior Associate coordinates all aspects of the buying process. The Senior Associate is expected to have a strong working knowledge of the media buying space and available media research. They are also expected to be proficient with agency tools (buying tools) and procedures (both Buying and inter-department). The Senior Associate is expected to be an active participant on the business; consistently engaged and contributing ideas and insights that will benefit our clients.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Media Buying and Execution:
Prepare reports for clients on national accounts (Tracking, GRP, Posts)
Ensure that DDS and GRP charts reflect most updated brand requirements
Communication with networks regarding client’s scheduling
Ensure that move requests have been requested and are being followed up on daily
Organize all upfront information into summary documents (i.e. “Roll-Ups”)
Analyze upfront plans, execute options and sell-off requests , negotiate scatter buys and prepare scatter buy recommendations
Ensure that allocations match flighting/$’s/GRP requirements
Prepare Monthly Spending Reports
Client & Internal Relationships:
Maintain special client related projects (i.e. Marketplace updates)
Develop and maintain relationships with network sales executives
Assist in managing expectations of clients and deliverables
Assist Supervisor in advising clients on best ways to integrate media into their advertising and marketing programs
Assist Supervisor in growing business opportunities within current clients
Keeps up with the latest trends in media, programming and ratings May be responsible for informing team/client of new opportunities or issues
Participates and leads, if appropriate, face to face client and vendor meetings
Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets good example for assistant level
Strategic Thinking & Leadership:
Works with management team (Supervisor/Group Director) to develop strategies for media buys
Shares new and relevant advertising opportunities in written and verbal form to the media department
Strategizes ways to most effectively use media dollars to the greatest benefit for our clients
Assess problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
Proactively resolve issues, know when to and to whom to escalate
Instruct and develop Assistant Buyers knowledge of television media, negotiation skills and DDS programs
Provide guidance to team members nurture/promote team environment
Assist in the training of junior team members
May be responsible for working with Supervisor to develop and oversee junior staff- manage time, assure projects are completed on time and adhered to (within) budget
May be responsible for constructing and delivering accurate, honest and timely performance management documents
Capable of managing multiple deliverables and ability to seamlessly transition among them
Communications Skills:
Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications
Writes in a clear, compelling and concise manner
Organizes ideas and information logically and sequentially
Assists in the development of media presentations and tactical POVs
Develops client reports that are clear, compelling and persuasive
Ensures key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree
1-3 years of media buying experience, including at least 1 year at the Assistant Buyer level
Thorough understanding of the media buying process, buying department and inter-department relationships
Demonstrated ability to generate and present well-considered ideas and solutions
Thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment; can adapt plans due to changes in client objectives, priorities or budgets while minimizing impact on project momentum
Strong analytical skills, ability to relate results to client business objectives
Balanced ability to perform analytically and creatively
Media vendor negotiation experience
Working knowledge of DDS
Knowledge of media research terminology
Experience with online research tools such as Nielsen, @Plan, AdRelevance, etc.
Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
