Description
Your role
Cloover runs three business models at once: a lending book, a payments product, and an energy retailer, each with a completely different capital profile. Most graduates spend years before they see one of these from the inside, and you will model all three within your first months. Success looks like your logic sitting inside the numbers that go to management and to our investors.
Your mission
- Build and extend the driver-based Excel models we run the business on, covering commercial forecasts, portfolio projections, and product-level economics, structured so that someone opening them a month later can still follow the logic
- Produce parts of the forecast the management team plans against, then run the variance analysis that shows where it was wrong and why
- Build the portfolio views that show how our receivables book is actually performing versus plan, working with vintages, cohorts, amortisation, and loss curves in Qlik
- Model unit economics across all three products, so we know what a contract earns over its life, how much capital it ties up, and which product returns that capital fastest
- Contribute to the monthly investor and board packs, and to the answers we give when external parties scrutinise our numbers, where being exactly right matters more than being fast
- Build the business cases behind a pricing change, a new product, or a new market, and put a number on them that someone will make a decision from
- Automate recurring analysis and reporting with Claude Code, so work that took four hours the first month takes twenty minutes by the third
Your profile
We care more about how you think and what you've built than where you've been. Here's what will set you up for success in this role:
- You have completed your degree in business, economics, finance, or something adjacent. This is a role for graduates, not a placement alongside your studies
- You can build a model rather than only read one: you structure a calculation from scratch, separate assumptions from logic, and keep it legible to someone else
- You reach for a tool instead of grinding through something manually. We work with Claude Code daily, no prior experience needed, but you should want to get good at it
- You would rather check twice than be corrected, because in finance a number that is nearly right is wrong
- You ask why a number moved rather than only noting that it did, and you can explain the answer to someone who did not build the model
- You can be trusted with figures that are not public, from day one
- English is our working language and you are fluent in it. German is useful for our accounting and audit work but is not required
- You can commit to a minimum of 6 months internship, with the potential for a full-time transition.
- Based in Berlin and energized by being in the room. We're intentionally office-first: decisions get made in real time, prototypes get stress-tested over lunch, and the founding team is ten meters away. If that's how you thrive, you'll feel at home here
Nice to have (but not required):
- SQL, Qlik, or another BI tool, enough to pull and shape data yourself rather than waiting on someone else
- Exposure to lending, payments, subscriptions, or energy markets, whether through a prior internship in banking, private equity, venture capital, consulting, or fintech, or through your own curiosity
Don't meet every requirement? Apply anyway. We hire for potential and perspective. Credentials are a starting point, not a ceiling.
How we hire
We keep things transparent and respect your time. Most go from first call to offer in under three weeks.

- Hiring manager interview (30 min): We go deep into your experience, your thinking, and how you approach problems.
- Case study (1 hour): You get the brief in advance. We care about your approach, not whether you land on the right answer.
- Offer & signed contract.
