Product Support Sales Representative

POSITION SUMMARY: Influence sales of parts and service of Caterpillar Earthmoving and other related products throughout the territory. Build relationships with customers and keep them informed of ongoing services and specials.  Through consultative action, partner with our customers to identify improvements and implement solutions.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Prospect and develop assigned accounts and provide parts and service to meet customer needs.
2. Develop business opportunities for all assigned accounts, provide quotes and close sales.
3. Extensive knowledge of customer’s and territory (including financial status and past sales volume) enough to forecast growth potential, select target accounts, and identify need for alternative solutions.
4. Introduction of Hawthorne’s parts and service capabilities to all customers and effectively market/communicate offerings and campaigns that position Hawthorne as the clear Product Support choice.
5. Devise, forecast and create a business plan for assigned territory or customers.
6. Makes routine sales calls on customers in assigned markets and provide timely and accurate proposals for parts and service.
7. Assist customers in selection of programs that will insure maximum life cycle of their equipment.
8. Build competitive intelligence: Collect, analyze, and evaluate competitive activity in your assigned territory.
9. Provide coordination between customers and said departments to provide best possible service.
10. Maintain customer contact information, sales call reports and weekly call planners.
11. Able to measure and perform on annual growth targets for assigned territory with a deep understanding of book of business.
12. Perform any job that may be assigned as necessary to meet the company, department or individual goals and objectives.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Preferred minimum of five years in a product support environment or related industry with experience in customer service.
2. Must have ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
3. Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
4. Must have a positive attitude and be a self-starter.
5. Must be organized and a good planner.
6. Ability to set and meet goals.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Walking and moving about on foot often up and down stairs.
2. Handing: Seizes helps or works with hands.
3. Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous paperwork.
4. Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
5. Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
6. Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.
7. Vision: Read computer and paperwork.
8. Talking: Communications by phone and in person.
9. Sitting: Sits at desk. Sits for long periods of time.
10. Climbing: Climb on and off earthmoving machines/engines.
11. Crawling: In, around and under machinery.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL:     

1. Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
2. Temp/Weather: Works in both office and outdoor environment.
