Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the VP and GM, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the manufacturing engineering functions to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operations across the facility. The ideal candidate will provide leadership for process improvement, equipment reliability, capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, quality and operational performance. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will partner closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain and other cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes, maximize equipment uptime and support the successful execution of business objectives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading a team who will foster a culture of safety, innovation, accountability and continuous improvement while developing engineering team capabilities for the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability, increase uptime, reduce downtime and improve overall asset performance
- Develop, implement and optimize manufacturing processes, procedures and workflows to improve productivity, quality, safety and operational efficiency
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), throughput, maintenance costs, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
- Lead, develop and mentor manufacturing engineering team members
- Lead capital improvement projects including equipment selection, facility improvements, automation initiatives, equipment installations and plant layout optimization
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste, improve performance and support operational excellence
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve operational challenges, support new product introductions and achieve business objectives
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, resource planning and vendor relationships while ensuring cost-effective execution of engineering and maintenance activities
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, environmental standards and quality management systems while maintaining a safe working environment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 7+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing/industrial engineering, maintenance or operations environments
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience leading engineering teams within a manufacturing or industrial production environment
- Experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, 8D problem solving and other operational excellence methodologies
- Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), manufacturing KPIs and data-driven decision-making practices
- Experience managing multi-shift work schedules and optimizing labor and productivity across shifts
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation systems, equipment reliability, maintenance management and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience having worked in industrial manufacturing, bearings, power transmission, metalworking, machining, assembly or related industries
- Six Sigma Certification
- Experience leading automation, robotics, facility expansion or capital equipment implementation projects
- Working knowledge of ISO quality systems, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and predictive maintenance technologies
