About the Role

The Structured Finance practice evaluates the credit risk of securitized products by analyzing underlying asset performance, structural protections, cash-flow mechanics, and stress scenarios, producing opinions that help issuers and investors compare complex instruments. The Australian team focuses specifically on Residential Mortgage (RMBS) and Auto and Equipment (ABS) transactions, responsible for credit analysis, cash flow modeling, and transaction document analysis in support of new issue ratings and ongoing surveillance. The team is part of S&P Global Ratings' global analyst community of more than 1,400 analysts across key financial hubs worldwide, dedicated to delivering high-quality insights and exceptional client service.

What You'll Do

Impact

At S&P Global, our values — Discovery, Integrity, and Partnership — shape how we work, collaborate, and earn trust. We embrace AI as an enabler, guided by rigorous governance and risk management, to enhance the intelligence of our people, deep relationships, and trusted insights. By leveraging technology with human expertise, we help our teams navigate complexity and deliver actionable, decision-ready intelligence without compromising quality, accountability, or integrity.

Responsibilities

Team Contribution & Capability Building

  • Act as a senior reference point, coaching analysts on credit fundamentals, modeling discipline, and responsible AI use; coordinate work across credits, anticipate capacity and quality risks, and embed continuous improvement by updating playbooks and standard operating procedures.

Core Analytical & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end analytical execution for new issue RMBS and ABS transactions, including detailed review of legal and operating documents for compliance with criteria and identification of structural issues, setting a consistently high bar for quality and timeliness.
  • Lead surveillance and analytical updates, connecting performance data and market developments to forward-looking risk themes; validate inputs, reconcile metrics, and document model assumptions to ensure consistency and clarity of reasoning.

Stakeholder & Market Engagement

  • Conduct due diligence meetings with issuers and actively manage relationships with issuers, intermediaries, and investors; synthesize complex analysis into executive-ready, market-facing narratives that convey S&P Global's analytical expertise and influence decisions.

Risk Management and Operating

  • Ensure adherence to methodology, confidentiality, and data governance requirements; embed responsible AI use in workflows and contribute to the design and scaling of controlled automation and agentic workflow solutions.

What We're Looking For

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and cash flow analysis, with a strong understanding of financial markets, structured products, and their relationship to credit risk.
  • Demonstrated credit and financial analysis skills, with the ability to translate complexity into decision-useful narratives and connect market developments to emerging risk themes.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for committee-ready documentation, issuer due diligence, and engagement with investors and market participants.
  • Practical AI fluency, with experience embedding generative AI and large language model tools into analytical workflows to increase productivity, paired with disciplined validation, governance, and judgment.
  • High standards for accuracy, traceability, and governance, with sound judgment on responsible AI use, including validation, data protection, and adherence to approved boundaries.
  • English: Required — Fluent (able to conduct meetings, collaborate effectively, and communicate clearly in writing and verbally).

Preferred or Helpful Experience

  • Proven coaching and mentoring experience, developing junior analysts through feedback and quality review, reinforcing human accountability in AI-enabled work and driving process simplification through standardization and tooling.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale automation and agentic workflows by defining requirements, supporting testing and user acceptance testing, and enabling adoption.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking.

Additional Information

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 7 to 12 years of relevant experience in structured finance, including RMBS and ABS analysis.
  • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
  • Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
