Job Description:
This job is responsible for providing leadership, technical direction and oversight to a team delivering technology solutions. Key responsibilities of the job are to provide oversight of the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex computer programs, align technical solutions to business objectives, and ensure that coding practices/quality comply with software development standards. Job expectations include conducting multiple software implementations and applying both depth and breadth in knowledge of several technical competencies.
Overview:
The Feature Lead serves as the Product Owner for an Agile Scrum team and is accountable for maximizing the value delivered through the product. The role is responsible for understanding the product vision, roadmap, business objectives, and stakeholder priorities, and translating them into a well-managed and prioritized product backlog.
The Feature Lead works closely with business stakeholders, Product Managers, architects, and development teams to define, prioritize, and refine epics, features, and user stories. This role ensures that business requirements are clearly understood, properly documented, and aligned with strategic objectives while enabling the Scrum team to deliver high-quality solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops and is accountable for feature delivery
- Applies enterprise standards for solution design, coding and quality
- Ensures solution meets product acceptance criteria with minimal technical debt
- Guides the team on work breakdown and execution
- Works with the Product Owner to ensure that product backlog/requirements are healthy, with clear acceptance criteria
- Plays a team lead role (as an individual contributor) and mentors the team
- Guides team members with skills and practices (planning and estimation, peer reviews, and other engineering practices)
- Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring priorities align with business objectives and product strategy
- Define, refine, and prioritize epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs, gather requirements, assess impacts, and identify dependencies
- Collaborate with Product Managers in a Scaled Agile environment to ensure alignment with strategic roadmaps and priorities
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, PI planning, reviews, and retrospectives
- Review and accept completed stories, making timely decisions on scope, requirements, and priority changes
- Work closely with development, architecture, and quality engineering teams to ensure requirements are understood and solutions deliver expected business outcomes
- Provide functional and domain expertise to the Scrum team and support solution discussions
- Communicate product status, risks, dependencies, and priorities to stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement of product delivery processes and stakeholder engagement
- Possess strong knowledge of the business and technology domain associated with the product
- Operate with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment in prioritization and product decisions
Required Qualifications
- 8-10+ years relevant IT experience, preferably within a Financial domain
- Good working experience and knowledge in JAVA/J2EE, Kafka, REST API, Spring framework, Mulesoft, Containers and Cloud
- Exposure to tools namely Jenkins, WinSCP XLR, CI-CD framework is an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of XML, JSON and its usage within API and Microservice implementations at scale
- Familiarity with Eclipse IDE, WebLogic Application server or JBoss
- Strong experience in Integration Technologies – Mule ESB & IDE or equivalent, previous Middleware experiences
- Hands-on working experience in Oracle - should be proficient in creating SQL scripts and procedures
- Knowledge of Test-Driven Development and Unit Testing (Cucumber/Litmus, JUnit)
- Experience with containerization and cloud deployments
- Should be able to handle code repositories using Bitbucket
- Able to contribute to 1. Automation 2. Causal analysis 3. Develop shared/common solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (both to a technical and non-technical audience)
