Salary: $26.78
JOB SUMMARY:
The successful candidate should be a self-starter, highly motivated, and capable of carrying out department responsibilities with minimal direction and supervision. Persons hired for these positions must be dedicated and self-disciplined in assuring that the department’s high operational standards are maintained.
The successful candidate must be capable of embracing innovative management principles and enjoy the challenge of blending traditional fire service values with modern business practices.
The ability to develop cooperative relationships with other departments and community organizations is crucial in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Firefighter.
JOB DUTIES:
Responds to: Fire Alarms, Medical Aids, Emergencies to Protect Life, Property, and Environment.
Training: Monthly & Yearly Training set forth by Pauma Fire Dept. Training Officer.
Prevention: Public Education, Building Inspections,
Maintains: Engine and Brush Equipment, Station Equipment and Building Maintenance.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED. By filing deadline, candidates must meet the following requirements: Graduation from a State of California Firefighter 1 Academy or Firefighter 1 certification issued by the OSFM, and certification as a California State Certified EMT. Fire related job experience is highly desirable.
LICSENSES and CERTIFICATES: The following licenses and certificates must be maintained throughout employment and are not subject to waiver: Valid California Driver’s License;
California State Certified EMT and must maintain current EMT accreditation with the County of San Diego EMS office; current CPR certificate for healthcare provider.
RESIDENCY REQUIRMENT: Firefighter must live within the department residency boundary at the time of hire. Fire Department employees must reside in the local counties of San Diego, Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles.
Requirements
Must have a valid California Driver License Class C and insurable on the Tribe’s insurance policy.
Must pass a security background check and drug screening

Pauma is a Drug Free Workplace: All new employees must pass a pre-employment drug screen as well as participate in random drug testing during their employment.
Background Checks: Criminal and civil background checks required, including compliance with Megan’s Law.
