Compensation Grade
ACE-USD-32GCAD Draftsman
Provide high-quality drafting and document control support to ensure accurate, up-to-date engineering drawings and Process Safety Information (PSI) that enable safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation and project execution.
Accountability 1: Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE)
- Comply with and actively promote the INEOS Life Saving Rules, the INEOS 20 Principles of Process and Behavioral Safety, and all site SHE requirements.
- Maintain and update plant PSI drawings (P&IDs, plot plans, isometrics, electrical drawings, and associated documentation) to ensure accuracy and compliance with INEOS standards.
- Ensure all drawing updates are completed in response to Management of Change (MOC), capital projects, and maintenance activities, maintaining alignment between field conditions and documented design.
- Assist in audits, PHA/HAZOP reviews, and incident investigations by providing accurate and current drawing packages.
- Identify discrepancies between field conditions and drawings and escalate issues that may impact safe operating envelopes or regulatory compliance.
Accountability 2: CAD Drafting & Drawing Management
- Prepare and revise a wide range of engineering drawings including P&IDs, PFDs, general arrangements, piping isometrics, electrical/instrument layouts, and plot plans based on engineer markups and redlines.
- Convert field redlines and engineering concepts into accurate, constructible CAD deliverables that meet company and industry drafting standards.
- Ensure consistency with ANSI/ISO/ASME and company drafting standards, including layering, symbology, and revision control.
- Generate and maintain as-built drawings to reflect actual installed conditions following project completion or field modifications.
- Support development of design packages for construction, including drawing sets, document indexing, and revision tracking.
- Manage drawing numbering, version control, and archival in company systems to ensure traceability and audit readiness.
- Support engineers and designers with data extraction, drawing updates, and document formatting to meet project and maintenance needs.
Accountability 3: Field Verification & Asset Accuracy
- Perform field walkdowns to verify existing conditions, equipment locations, and routing details.
- Capture and document discrepancies between existing drawings and physical installations.
- Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance to validate system configurations and ensure drawings reflect practical operating conditions.
Accountability 4: Project & Maintenance Support
- Provide drafting support across all project phases including FEED, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
- Assist rapid-turnaround work for plant issues, ensuring timely updates to drawings supporting maintenance execution.
- Coordinate with engineers and designers to ensure drawing deliverables meet schedule, scope, and quality expectations.
- Review vendor drawings for integration into plant records and ensure alignment with site standards.
- Support preparation of documentation for permits, excavation packages, and work packs.
Accountability 5: Continuous Improvement & Digitalization
- Contribute to improvements in drawing standards, workflows, and document management processes.
- Support initiatives to digitize and standardize legacy drawings and records.
- Identify opportunities to improve drafting efficiency using available CAD tools, templates, and libraries.
- Participate in knowledge sharing to improve drawing quality and consistency across disciplines.
Required profile:
Level of Education & Knowledge:
- Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), Engineering Technology, or related field and 5 years of experience or 10+ years of CAD drafting experience in petrochemical, refining, or industrial environment
Experience & Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); experience with 3D tools (Plant 3D, CADWorx, etc.) preferred
Working knowledge of:
- P&IDs, piping layouts, electrical/instrument drawings
- Drafting standards (ANSI, ISO, ASME)
- Experience with redline updates, as-built development, and drawing control systems
- Familiarity with MOC processes and PSI requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
