JOB SUMMARY


The Plant Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment, utilities, facilities, and production support systems. The role drives operational excellence through proactive maintenance strategies, equipment optimization, plant infrastructure development, capital project execution, and continuous improvement initiatives that support productivity, quality, cost, delivery, and safety objectives.
 

The Plant Engineer acts as the technical lead for plant engineering activities and works closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, EHS, and external contractors to ensure sustainable plant performance while supporting current and future business growth.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Plant Equipment Reliability & Asset Management

  • Ensure availability, reliability, and performance of manufacturing equipment and utilities.
  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
  • Monitor and analyze equipment performance, breakdown trends, and downtime losses.
  • Lead root cause investigations for major equipment failures and recurring issues.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve machine reliability.
  • Establish critical spare parts management and equipment lifecycle plans.
  • Support TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) initiatives to maximize equipment effectiveness.


Utilities & Facility Management

  • Manage plant utility systems including:
  • Compressors
  • Plastic Extrusion Machine and its assembly
  • Chiller
  • Granulator Machine
  • Cable Cutting Machine
  • Polishing Machines
  • Cooling systems
  • Electrical distribution systems
  • Water systems
  • Fire protection systems
  • HVAC systems
  • Forklift
  • Monitor utility consumption and drive energy-efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensure adequate capacity of utilities to support current operations and future expansion.
  • Coordinate maintenance and inspection activities for facility infrastructure.
  • Support sustainability and environmental improvement programs.

Capital Projects & Plant Expansion

  • Prepare feasibility studies and business justifications for capital investments.
  • Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation.
  • Develop project plans, budgets, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Manage installation, commissioning, qualification, and acceptance of new equipment.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders during project execution.
  • Support new production lines, capacity expansion initiatives, and product transfer projects.
  • Ensure successful project completion within approved budget and timeline.

Manufacturing Process Support

  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations.
  • Collaborate with Production and Quality teams to improve productivity, yield, and process capability.
  • Participate in troubleshooting production issues and process optimization activities.
  • Support process validation and qualification activities.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and digitalization.
  • Assist in reducing waste, scrap, rework, and production losses.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, RESET, A3, 5S, and Operational Excellence projects.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Improve equipment utilization, OEE, and plant efficiency.
  • Drive cost reduction and energy-saving initiatives.
  • Monitor and report key engineering and maintenance performance indicators.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure engineering activities comply with company EHS requirements.
  • Lead risk assessments for equipment, facilities, and engineering projects.
  • Promote safe work practices across plant operations.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical, mechanical, and facility safety standards.
  • Support investigation of safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and fire safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and environmental requirements.

Quality & Management System Compliance

  • Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and other applicable management system requirements.
  • Ensure engineering documentation remains accurate and audit-ready.
  • Participate in internal, customer, supplier, and certification audits.
  • Support closure of engineering-related corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain technical drawings, equipment documentation, maintenance records, and engineering standards.

Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Evaluate and manage engineering contractors and service providers.
  • Monitor contractor performance related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with company policies and safety requirements.
  • Support supplier audits and technical assessments when required.
  • Review and approve technical proposals and engineering solutions.

QUALIFICATION


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PRC Licensed Engineer) required.
     

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in plant engineering, maintenance engineering, manufacturing engineering, or facility management.
  • Experience in cable manufacturing, extrusion, plastics, metal, automotive, electronics, or related industries preferred.
  • Experience managing utilities, facility systems, and capital projects.
  • Proven experience in equipment reliability and maintenance improvement programs.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems.
  • Experience with SAP PM or similar maintenance management systems.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of OEE, TPM, Reliability Engineering, and Asset Management principles.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving methodologies:
    • RCA
    • 5 Why Analysis
    • Fishbone Analysis
    • FMEA
    • CAPA
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Project management and budget control experience.
