Premier Infrastructure & Energy is seeking a motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Lead Researcher to support the day-to-day operations of our New York City Research Department.
The Lead Researcher is a working-lead position responsible for performing research and video auditing duties while providing day-to-day guidance, training, quality oversight, and workflow support to the Research team. This position will help ensure the NYC Research operation maintains consistent coverage, high production, accuracy, and compliance with company and client requirements.
The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and highly detail-oriented, with a proven ability to perform high-quality research work while helping others succeed. The Lead Researcher must be comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment, prioritizing competing demands, identifying issues, and communicating effectively with Internal Management, Research and Field Operations.

LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS:
Although this is a working-lead position, the Lead Researcher is expected to take an active role in supporting the overall success of the NYC Research Department.
The Lead Researcher should lead by example by maintaining strong attendance, production, accuracy, professionalism, and accountability. The position provides essential day-to-day support to help the department operate efficiently and consistently.
Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years of Researcher experience within the utility locating, underground utility, 811, or related industry.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand maps, including identifying North, South, East, and West.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and utilize Company-specific software and systems.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to train, coach, and assist other employees.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment.
• Must be willing and able to work in-office at the Brooklyn, NY location.
• Must be available to participate in after-hours/on-call rotations as required.
RESEARCH & VIDEO AUDIT RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Process 811 tickets for underground utilities.
• Provide maps and records to field technicians.
• Assist Field Operations with special requests and time-sensitive needs.
• Coordinate and prioritize daily work volume.
• Assist with maintaining appropriate NYC field coverage.
• Notify utility companies of critical facilities when required.
• Review field videos to ensure work is performed in accordance with company, client, and safety standards.
• Utilize the Company's audit program to accurately complete required video audit questions.
• Perform Research QA/QC activities and identify trends, errors, or areas requiring additional attention.
• Meet weekly audit production goals to ensure the Company meets our client requirements.
• Participate in after-hours/on-call rotations as needed.
LEAD, TEAM & OPERATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Train and mentor new Research employees.
• Assist with onboarding and developing Research team members.
• Serve as a resource for Researchers when questions or issues arise.
• Monitor day-to-day office performance and provide feedback to the Research Supervisor/Manager regarding production, accuracy, attendance, and other performance concerns.
• Assist with ensuring employees follow established Research procedures and Company expectations.
• Help identify training opportunities and recurring errors within the department.
• Assist with coordinating daily workflow to ensure adequate NYC coverage.
• Monitor workload and help redistribute work when necessary to maintain productivity and coverage.
• Identify potential coverage or production issues and communicate them to Management in a timely manner.
• Support communication between Research, Field Operations, and Management to help resolve operational issues quickly.
• Assist supervisors with day-to-day responsibilities and special projects as needed.
• Assist with monitoring Research office inventory and ordering supplies as needed, including plotter paper, ink, and other Research-related materials.
• Assist with maintaining an organized and productive office environment.
• Assist with accessing and maintaining access to customer resources and systems.
• Support implementation of new processes, software, customer requirements, and operational procedures.
