Job Summary
The Classification and Compensation Specialist will administer an effective and equitable classification and compensation program at Salisbury University. The incumbent will assess current policies and procedures, examine workforce data and facilitate the implementation of state or university level compensation initiatives. The incumbent will provide specialized training and support the University community to enhance best practice. The Classification and Compensation Specialist will use their expertise in job analysis and compensation to help formulate effective organizational designs. By working on position management, the incumbent will assess requests and classify positions at all levels. They will be analyzing data across the institution, auditing and reporting on compensation and classification information as well as helping to prepare job descriptions. They will manage, update and share simple, seamless, and transparent processes.
Authority and Accountability
The position requires analysis of sophisticated business problems to be solved with configuration solutions. Our roles are fast-paced and focus on analyzing challenging problems and coming up with solutions to a variety of operational critical issues, all while running various projects and initiatives. Decision making includes ensuring compliance with legal/regulatory and policy interpretation and application. As such, they must be very detailed, self-motivated, results oriented, and an excellent communicator. No direct reports or budgetary responsibility.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree and relevant business process analysis and/or business analyst training and experience required, with at least 3 years of related experience.
• Working knowledge of federal or state labor, wage and employment laws.
• Strong interpersonal skills to understand the broad range of needs and various support requirements for delivering exemplary customer service to clients in a wide range of roles, across the institution.
• Flexibility and adaptability; ability to work in ambiguous situations.
• Ability to understand complex business needs and to effectively articulate the information to others through visuals/diagrams or other requirements documentation.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats to a variety of audiences, as well as to create and maintain positive, productive working relationships with both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Ability to operate independently and set priorities amongst multiple task assignments.
• Excellent analytical skills, intellectually curious, and loves a good challenge.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, assignments, and projects, being self-motivated and highly engaged, with attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a highly diverse environment, demonstrating capacity to develop & maintain effective working relationships with individuals & organizations reflecting a broad range of identities, perspectives & experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
•Work experience in a higher education environment strongly preferred.
• PHR or SPHR preferred.
