See Yourself in the Team
The Economic Crime Data Office provides the data leadership, governance and delivery capability that underpins CommBank's Economic Crime agenda. Partnering across a large and complex environment of crews, squads and stakeholder groups, the team ensures critical data is trusted, governed and fit for purpose, enabling the bank to meet regulatory obligations while strengthening the organisation's ability to detect, prevent and disrupt criminal activity.
With responsibility spanning hundreds of practitioners and numerous delivery teams, the Economic Crime Data Office operates at the intersection of data, risk, technology and transformation. The team shapes enterprise data strategy, influences major uplift initiatives, and provides the expertise, governance and assurance required to strengthen controls, improve data quality and build more resilient, intelligence-led capabilities across the organisation.
Your Impact & Contribution
As Senior Manager, Data Product Strategy, you'll play a key leadership role in shaping the future Economic Crime data landscape. You'll own the strategic direction, roadmap and prioritisation of data products that support critical Economic Crime outcomes, ensuring investment and delivery efforts remain aligned to business priorities, risk obligations and transformation objectives.
Acting as the bridge between Economic Crime and a broad network of enterprise data producers, you'll influence delivery across organisational boundaries, bringing together stakeholders from business, risk, technology and data teams to establish a shared understanding of priorities, dependencies and desired outcomes.
This is a highly visible role operating across a complex producer ecosystem. With numerous delivery teams contributing to the portfolio, you'll provide strategic oversight, drive alignment across competing priorities and ensure decision-making remains focused on delivering long-term value. Success will require exceptional stakeholder leadership, strong commercial judgement and the ability to influence outcomes without direct ownership of delivery teams.
You'll be successful when Economic Crime has a clear, actionable and strategically aligned portfolio of data products that enables delivery teams to focus investment where it creates the greatest organisational value.
Your impact will help ensure:
- Economic Crime priorities are translated into a clear, strategically aligned data product roadmap that informs enterprise investment and delivery decisions.
- Data producers have clear expectations, priorities and success measures, enabling consistent delivery against Economic Crime outcomes.
- Best-practice data product, governance and portfolio management methodologies are embedded across the producer ecosystem, driving greater consistency, transparency and accountability.
- Senior stakeholders have clear visibility of portfolio progress, strategic dependencies, emerging risks and delivery opportunities, supporting effective decision-making and prioritisation.
- The organisation continues to strengthen its Economic Crime capabilities through the delivery of scalable, reusable and fit-for-purpose data products that improve operational effectiveness and reduce duplication.
Your Skills & Experience
We're looking for a strategic leader who can combine strong product thinking, enterprise influence and portfolio leadership with sufficient technical depth to challenge constructively and guide decision-making. You'll bring:
- Demonstrated experience shaping data strategy, enterprise data products, data modernisation initiatives or large-scale transformation programmes within complex organisations.
- Strong capability in product strategy, portfolio management and prioritisation, including developing roadmaps that balance business value, risk obligations and delivery constraints.
- Experience influencing outcomes across large, distributed stakeholder environments where delivery accountability sits outside your direct control.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted partnerships across executive, business, technology, risk and data leadership communities.
- Ability to navigate competing priorities, resolve cross-domain dependencies and drive alignment across complex organisational environments.
- Strong understanding of data architecture, lineage, governance, quality and reusable enterprise data products, with sufficient technical fluency to challenge assumptions and assess solution suitability.
- Experience providing strategic oversight across multiple delivery streams and consolidating complex information into clear portfolio-level insights.
- Strong commercial judgement, proactive leadership and a track record of driving outcomes through influence rather than hierarchy.
- Proven ability to operate autonomously in highly visible, enterprise-scale environments and provide credible advice to senior stakeholders.
Experience within Economic Crime, Financial Crime, financial services, risk, large-scale transformation or enterprise data modernisation will be highly regarded.
Candidates from backgrounds such as Technical Product Management, Product Ownership, Data Strategy, Data Transformation, Enterprise Data Management, Portfolio Leadership or large-scale data delivery environments may also be well aligned.
