Position Summary:   The Software Technician supports the Professional Services team in preparing, testing, documenting, and delivering software and firmware used in RF Testing systems and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. This role works across software and hardware environments, supporting software builds and releases, system installation and verification, configuration backups, open-source software compliance, and troubleshooting activities. The position also provides hands-on technical and administrative support to help ensure systems are properly configured, tested, documented, and ready for customer delivery.

Compensation: $26.50–$36.20 per hour, depending on experience (DOE), equivalent to approximately $55,000–$75,300 annually based on a 40-hour workweek.

Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the build, release, installation, verification, and delivery of software and firmware used in Electronic Warfare (EW) systems.
  • Perform software composition and open-source compliance scans using Black Duck and coordinate required software legal reviews prior to release.
  • Install, configure, and verify software on computers and hardware integrated into EW system racks.
  • Create and maintain system disk images at required configuration points, including before software installation and prior to customer shipment.
  • Execute established software and firmware build processes and prepare release packages for testing and delivery.
  • Load and test firmware builds on Switch Matrix hardware to verify functionality prior to release.
  • Prepare and verify software distribution media and other deliverables provided to customers.
  • Run and support custom scripts used to collect, process, and analyze system data for troubleshooting and diagnostic purposes.
  • Assist software and systems teams with troubleshooting, integration, testing, and other technical activities needed to meet customer delivery schedules.
  • Provide support for software development activities and internal software tools as assigned.
  • Coordinate department purchases and capital-equipment orders using the company's parts and purchasing systems.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow established software release, configuration, quality, and documentation processes.
  • Collaborate with software, systems, engineering, and operations team members to resolve issues and support successful system deliveries.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong general computer skills, including installing and configuring software, managing files and system images, and creating software distribution media.
  • Working knowledge of software version control systems, such as Git, and basic understanding of software revision and configuration management.
  • Ability to locate, review, and document software license information and work with internal legal or compliance teams to obtain required approvals.
  • Ability to use software tools to communicate with and test electronic instruments and equipment through interfaces such as LAN and GPIB.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, including the ability to maintain software releases, system images, customer deliverables, and other technical records.
  • Ability to use database or business systems to enter and maintain information related to equipment orders, assemblies, and other department activities.
  • Ability to follow established technical procedures while identifying and communicating issues that require additional troubleshooting or support.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with software versions, system configurations, release documentation, and customer deliverables.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing project and customer delivery needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with software, systems, engineering, legal/compliance, and other cross-functional teams.


Education and Experience preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field and 1–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, technical training, certifications, and relevant hands-on experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with software installation, configuration management, software builds or releases, system integration, electronics testing, or similar technical work is preferred.
  • Experience with Git or another version control system is preferred.
  • Experience with scripting, software troubleshooting, or automated data collection is a plus.
