Job Description Summary
Seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Production Test Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine testing of current transformers (CT) as well as tightness testing (gas leak chambers) of circuit breakers, and Dielectric testing in the High Voltage lab to ensure compliance with customer specifications, internal quality standards, and testing requirements. This role requires attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient testing environment.Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Current Transformer (CT) Testing
- Perform current transformer tests measuring Hi-pot, ratios, and additional testing as needed following the requirements of the approved Inspection and Test Plans (PIT) using appropriate equipment and apparatus, Manuals and Standards
- Troubleshooting and communication of failures including Quality Concern Reports (QCRs)
Gas Tightness Testing
- Perform gas tightness testing on circuit breakers following the requirements of the approved Inspection and Test Plans (PIT) using appropriate equipment and apparatus, Manuals and Standards
- Troubleshooting and locate any leaks and then communication of failures including Quality Concern Reports (QCRs)
High Voltage Dielectric Testing
- Perform high voltage dielectric testing on circuit breakers following the requirements of the approved Inspection and Test Plans (PIT) using appropriate equipment and apparatus, Manuals and Standards
- Troubleshooting and locate any leaks and then communication of failures including Quality Concern Reports (QCRs)
Other Duties
- Responsibilities include moving breakers into, out of, and around the lab using the appropriate equipment and following the safety rules.
- Checking vacuum levels of breakers ready to go into the test lab to ensure they are ready and meet the specifications required
- Responsible for gas handling at their workstation, includes filling and reclaiming the circuit breakers with gas per established procedures and safety rules.
- Accurately document test data, prepare test reports, and ensure full traceability of test records.
- Compare results against specifications, record test data, and print test results.
- Document all work performed by completing the appropriate forms.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test procedures, reduce downtime, and improve product quality.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
- Work comfortably in a high-voltage testing environment with appropriate PPE.
- Lift and maneuver test equipment and components weighing up to 35 lbs. as part of daily responsibilities.
- Exposure to loud noise, high voltage, and moving equipment; strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
- Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and customers regarding testing procedures, results, and problem resolution.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum of two years of related experience in test, quality control, or manufacturing environment.
Desired Characteristics & Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, test standards, inspection and test procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and interpret documents such as IEEE and IEC circuit breaker and test standards, inspection and test procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively, write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be articulate and professional, with good interpersonal skills because of frequent customer witness tests in the test lab.
