The Opportunity

As the Lead Design Engineer - Geotechnical, you will provide technical leadership across the planning, design and delivery of geotechnical engineering solutions from feasibility and tender phases through to detailed design and construction.

You will play a critical role in managing multidisciplinary interfaces, mentoring engineers, supporting project delivery teams and ensuring technically sound, safe and innovative outcomes across major infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities;

• Lead the design and delivery of geotechnical solutions across major infrastructure projects.

• Direct complex geotechnical assessments, analysis and design activities.

• Oversee the design of foundations, earthworks, retaining structures and slope stabilisation works.

• Develop ground improvement strategies and provide guidance on construction methodologies.

• Lead geotechnical investigations, interpretation of ground conditions and risk assessments.

• Provide technical leadership and support during project delivery and construction phases.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, consultants and key project stakeholders.

• Contribute to major tenders, methodologies and technical proposals.

• Mentor and develop engineering talent within the business.

• Drive technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement across geotechnical disciplines.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline, combined with significant experience delivering complex geotechnical design solutions for major infrastructure projects.

• Strong technical expertise in foundations, earthworks, retaining structures, slope stability and ground improvement, supported by advanced geotechnical analysis and design experience.

• Proven knowledge of site investigations, geotechnical risk assessment, monitoring systems and construction-phase support, with a strong understanding of relevant design standards and industry best practice.

• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, manage complex technical interfaces and collaborate effectively with clients, contractors and key stakeholders.

• Track record delivering major transport, water, energy or civil infrastructure projects, with strong technical reporting, stakeholder management, tender preparation and proposal development skills.
