Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled IT Systems Administrator to join our internal IT team. This position provides end-user support, administers on-premises and cloud systems, and helps maintain secure, reliable, and scalable technology infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is a practical problem solver who enjoys helping users, troubleshooting complex issues, and working across Windows, Linux, networking, cloud, and cybersecurity technologies. The role includes participation in an on-call rotation, periodic travel, and hands-on installation of server, storage, networking, and rack-mounted equipment.
What You’ll Be Doing:
End User & Help Desk Support
- Provide technical support to internal end users.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, identity, access, connectivity, and system issues.
- Respond to requests through the ticketing system, email, phone, chat, and deskside support.
- Configure and deploy desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and business software.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Train users on technology best practices and security awareness.
Systems & Cloud Administration
- Administer and support Windows Server, Windows desktop, and Linux environments.
- Manage Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and related services.
- Administer Microsoft Azure resources, identity, access controls, and cloud security configurations.
- Perform maintenance, patching, monitoring, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Support backups, recovery testing, business continuity, virtualization, and server deployments.
- Monitor system availability, performance, capacity, and cloud cost trends.
Networking & Security
- Configure and troubleshoot switches, firewalls, wireless networks, VPNs, and related infrastructure.
- Support TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, LAN, WAN, and internet connectivity.
- Assist with cybersecurity monitoring, vulnerability remediation, access reviews, and incident response.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, inventories, and configuration standards.
Infrastructure & Projects
- Install, rack, cable, and maintain servers, storage, UPS systems, and networking equipment.
- Participate in infrastructure upgrades, equipment refreshes, migrations, and technology deployments.
- Assist with capacity planning, storage planning, infrastructure design, and technology roadmaps.
- Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders as needed.
Requirements
What You’ll Need:
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in IT administration, systems administration, help desk, or a related role.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems and Linux administration.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft Azure services.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
- An understanding of firewalls, VPNs, wireless networking, and network security concepts.
- Experience troubleshooting computer hardware, software, operating systems, and network issues.
- Strong customer service, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing needs, and collaborate effectively with a team.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel when required.
- Must be able to pass drug screening and background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or another virtualization platform.
- Experience with enterprise storage, infrastructure planning, monitoring, and backup solutions.
- Knowledge of relational databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of web servers such as IIS, Apache, or NGINX.
- Experience with automation or scripting using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Azure, Cisco, or Linux certifications.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 60 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
- Ability to rack, cable, install, and service server, storage, UPS, and network equipment.
- Ability to work in office, data center, warehouse, and equipment-room environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces when required.
Schedule & Travel:
- Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.
- Occasional evening or weekend maintenance activities.
- Periodic travel to company facilities, project sites, training, or vendor engagements.
