FLSA Status: Non-ExemptSummary
The Box Office Manager on Duty will work with the Theatre Manager to provide box office support and services for the Charles Playhouse during performances. The Box Office Manager on Duty will provide sales support and reporting while providing our guests with excellent customer service. This position is responsible for cash handling and in person individual ticket sales.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent the Charles Playhouse and Broadway In Boston in a professional manner during performances, patron interactions, and events as needed.
- Sell and process individual ticket sales in person. Report any issues to the Regional Ticketing Director.
- Work with the Manager on Duty team to resolve any ticketing issues that may arise.
- Be available for performances which are primarily nights and weekends, Thursday-Sunday but are subject to change.
- Provide excellent customer service to Charles Playhouse patrons.
- Be prepared to assist in the event of an evacuation or medical emergency.
- Work with Theatre Manager and Regional Ticketing Director to ensure accurate reporting of all ticket sales.
- Report safety and maintenance concerns the Theatre Manager.
- Create and submit detailed nightly settlement reports.
- Be responsible for cash handling and documentation of sales including daily operator reconciliations, end of day balancing, and cash deposits.
- Fulfill house seats, comp orders, and trade requests.
- Assist in answering incoming calls and emails as needed.
- Provide administrative support to the Theatre Manager, as needed.

Qualifications aka KSAOs

- Proven written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Knowledgeable about the Ticketmaster sales platform.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Candidates for this position will have at least 1 year experience in in a box office or in-person sales environment and must be extremely customer service oriented.
- Should possess skills in areas such as math and basic accounting.
- At least 1 year of experience with ticketing software is required, experience with TicketMaster, Archtics or TicketMaster Host is a plus.
- A 4-year degree in Arts Administration or Management is preferred, but not required.
Communication Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret basic reporting.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, partners, or members of the industry.
