Impact in action: No matter where you are in the organization, you're empowered to make an impact in the lives of our clients and communities.

## About the Role
As ATB's next Managing Director, you will serve as the architect and leader of the newly established Portfolio Analysis and Strategic Initiatives function. Reporting to the AVP of Enterprise Market Risk, you will be responsible for defining core processes, and establishing the analytical frameworks necessary to provide a comprehensive, top-of-house (TOH) view of market risk across ATB’s trading and banking books. You will be responsible for consolidating risk information, ensuring that senior management receives insightful, contextualized commentary on market dynamics and the firm’s aggregate risk profile.
We are seeking a seasoned leader to play a pivotal role in the newly established Portfolio Analysis and Strategic Initiatives function within Financial Risk Management (FRM). This leader will be instrumental in building the Enterprise Market Risk (EMR) analytical pillar, ensuring senior management has a comprehensive, aggregated view of market risk across the firm’s trading and banking books. The successful candidate will drive the development of foundational risk reporting infrastructure and provide critical, contextualized insights into enterprise-level market risk exposures.
## Accountabilities
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Function Build-out: Lead the end-to-end establishment of the Portfolio Analysis and Strategic Initiatives function. This includes designing core processes, implementing analytical frameworks, and curating reporting formats to deliver a top-of-house view of risk.
- Risk Infrastructure: Design and influence best-practice risk infrastructure design. Including data structure and governance, and connectivity with pricing and risk engines.
- Analytical Leadership: Own the production and quality assurance of all top-of-house (TOH) risk analysis and commentary. Ensure reporting is timely, accurate, and provides senior stakeholders with actionable insights regarding market dynamics, trends, and risk profiles.
- Stress Testing: Implement and maintain a robust Stress Testing function that covers Trading and Banking books. Direct the team’s response to market stress events, providing agile, regular and ad-hoc analysis that contextualizes impacts for the firm as a whole.
- Governance & Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for consolidating risk information from various FRM oversight teams. Collaborate closely with the AVP and other key partners (e.g., Treasury, Front Office, MROC, ALCO) to ensure consistent communication and strategic alignment.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and manage the Portfolio Analysis and Strategic Initiatives team, fostering a culture of analytical excellence, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Process Calibration: Support the analysis and recommendation of TOH risk appetite limits and lead the review and challenge process for enterprise-level models (e.g., VaR backtesting).
Portfolio Analysis and Stress Testing
- Report Review: Conduct daily reviews of all top-of-house (TOH) reports, providing commentary that contextualizes market moves, trends, and upcoming events. Prepare monthly management report commentary highlighting key strategic issues.
- Ad-hoc Reporting & Stress Response: Provide agile analysis and reporting in response to market stress events, contextualizing the impacts and potential strategic options for the firm.

Strategic Initiatives
- Drive requirements for a strategic data architecture (leveraging DEEP/BigQuery) to enable advanced analytical capabilities, improve data quality, and significantly reduce manual data adjustments in daily liquidity and balance sheet reporting.
- Collaborate with Technology (CXT) and Strategic Delivery partners to define data requirements, integration feeds, and risk engine infrastructure.
- Drive regulatory initiatives impacting FRM across Banking and Trading books.
## Knowledge, Skills and Experience
