Boyd Thermal Systems is a global leader in thermal management and engineered material solutions, delivering advanced cooling technologies that enable reliable performance in data centers, telecommunications, aerospace & defense, medical, and industrial applications.
The Senior Engineer is responsible for conducting advanced thermal product development, analysis, testing, and research activities. This individual will work across engineering, laboratory, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams to design, analyze, validate, and optimize thermal management solutions while supporting business growth through technical expertise and customer engagement.
The role will include:
- Designing and developing advanced thermal management products and solutions for customer applications
- Applying heat transfer principles including conduction, convection, and two-phase thermal technologies
- Analyzing and predicting performance of thermal systems such as heat pipes, vapor chambers, thermosiphons, and refrigeration systems
- Creating 3D models, product designs, and manufacturing drawings using approved CAD software
- Performing CFD analysis using tools such as FloTHERM, Icepak, or equivalent software packages
- Designing and executing experiments to validate product performance and optimize thermal designs
- Building, testing, and evaluating prototypes in a laboratory environment
- Collaborating with technicians to fabricate, assemble, and validate prototype hardware
- Developing technical reports, engineering documentation, proposals, datasheets, and customer presentations
- Supporting sales teams through proposal development, thermal analysis, customer visits, and technical solution recommendations
- Assisting with cost estimates, bids, and other customer-facing technical documentation
- Presenting technical information to engineers, customers, and senior leadership
- Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians
Basic (Required) Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree (M.S. or M.E.) or Ph.D. in Engineering with a specialization in Heat Transfer, Thermal Sciences, or a related discipline
- Experience with two-phase thermal systems and advanced cooling technologies
- Knowledge of heat pipes, vapor chambers, thermosiphons, and refrigeration systems
- Experience with CFD software such as FloTHERM, Icepak, or similar thermal simulation tools
- Hands-on laboratory experience including prototype development and testing
- Experience supporting customer proposals, technical sales efforts, or business development activities
- Experience authoring technical papers, journal publications, or research reports
- Strong understanding of heat transfer fundamentals, including conduction and convection
- Experience creating engineering designs and detailed drawings using CAD software
- Experience conducting engineering analysis and interpreting technical results
- Ability to design experiments, execute testing, and analyze data
- Ability to independently prepare technical reports, presentations, and engineering documentation
