Description -
HP is seeking a Sales Compensation Data & Feed SME to own the integrity, governance, and lifecycle management of inbound data feeds supporting global incentive compensation programs. This role is the primary business owner for all data feeds entering the SPM platform — accountable for feed documentation, data quality validation, business requirements definition, upstream partner coordination, and change management.
The role requires deep knowledge of HP's channel data environment — including partner-reported sell-through data sourced through the E2Open platform, transaction data processed through the channel transaction repository, and the Global Channel Warehouse — as well as the broader data landscape and how those feeds flow into and power Sales Compensation calculations.
This is a business analyst-oriented role. Deep engineering or development skills are not required, but structured thinking, meticulous documentation discipline, and the ability to represent Sales Compensation priorities in cross-functional data and technology forums are essential.
Data Feed Ownership & Documentation
- Own named inbound data feeds to the SPM system end-to-end, serving as the single point of accountability for feed accuracy, completeness, and availability
- Accountable for the accurate and complete documentation of data used, including field definitions, business rules, allowed values, transformation logic, and sourcing lineage
- Build and maintain data dictionaries for all owned feeds, including channel-sourced partner-reported and sell-through transaction data
- Maintain feed inventory documentation including source system, refresh cadence, field-level mapping, and downstream compensation usage
- Understand the full data flow related to channel data from partner-reported submissions through transaction processing and into the Global Channel Warehouse as well as the broader data landscape and how those assets are used downstream
Data Quality, Validation & Performance Monitoring
- Define data validations and quality KPIs for owned data subjects including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and reconciliation rates and keep ongoing monitoring of performance against those standards
- Perform quality control and quality assurance on inbound transaction data for owned feeds, identifying anomalies, missing records, and rule violations before they reach calculation
- Certify data readiness prior to each compensation calculation cycle
- Conduct transaction-level traceability from source systems through SPM outputs to support dispute resolution and root-cause analysis
- Serve as the escalation point for operational data issues tied to owned feeds; supports troubleshooting and resolution definition, coordinating with upstream teams on fixes as required
Business Requirements & Feed Development
- Author Business Requirements Documents for new inbound data feeds and changes to existing feeds, translating compensation plan mechanics and business intent into structured, testable specifications
- Define source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, and data validation acceptance criteria in partnership with technology and platform teams
- Represent Sales Compensation in data transformation forums and projects communicating priorities, submitting change requests, and ensuring Sales Compensation requirements are visible and actioned
- Understand Sales Compensation priorities and needs relative to the capabilities available in the data environment, and advocate accordingly in cross-functional discussions
Upstream Coordination & Change Awareness
- Serve as the primary liaison with upstream data owners across the channel data ecosystem including partner-reported data platforms, transaction processing systems, and the Global Channel Warehouse for new feed builds and changes to existing feeds
- Stay aware of ongoing data and process changes in designated areas; articulate back to Sales Compensation any relevant changes, implications, and timelines before they hit operations
- Drive alignment on data definitions, delivery timelines, and feed format standards with upstream stakeholders
- Represent Sales Compensation requirements in cross-functional data governance forums and transformation initiatives
Testing & Change Management
- Define test strategy, approach, and potential testers for feed changes including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing
- Lead end-to-end testing execution for feed changes and certify results before changes are promoted to production
- Manage change communication to impacted stakeholders including compensation administrators, finance, and upstream data teams
- Document testing outcomes, defect logs, and sign-off records for audit readiness
Education & Experience Recommended
Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Statistics/ Mathematics, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
- 7–10 years of experience in Sales Compensation, Revenue Operations, Channel Operations, or Sales Operations with meaningful exposure to channel and partner-reported data
- Multi-year experience leading complex data transformation projects including requirements definition, stakeholder alignment, data validation, and delivery
- Direct, hands-on knowledge of HP's channel data environment including partner-reported sell-through data, the E2Open platform, channel transaction processing, and the Global Channel Warehouse strongly preferred and considered a significant differentiator
- Experience working with SPM platforms (Forma.ai, Varicent, Xactly, or similar) preferred
- Experience authoring business requirements documents, data dictionaries, or functional specifications
- Demonstrated ability to communicate findings, risks, and data issues to senior leadership
- Experience participating in SPM implementation or data migration initiatives a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to define data validations and quality KPIs for data subjects and monitor performance against those standards over time
- Strong understanding of sales compensation plan mechanics, crediting logic, and quota-to-payment data flows
- Ability to author clear, structured BRDs and data dictionaries without requiring engineering-level technical depth
- Experience performing QA/QC on structured transaction data identifying anomalies, mismatches, and rule violations
- Proficiency working in Excel or similar tools for data validation and reconciliation; SQL familiarity a plus but not required
- Ability to translate data issues into business impact language for non-technical and senior management audiences
- Strong documentation and governance discipline reliable, thorough, and audit-ready in all artifacts produced
- Effective cross-functional communicator able to engage upstream data owners, technology partners, and compensation leadership with equal clarity
