Job Description Summary
The HMI and Cyber Security Lead Support Engineer will provide engineering-level technical support for GE Vernova HMI, Network, and Cyber Security products across the Software Solutions and Controls business. This role is responsible for delivering contractual and warranty customer support, ensuring timely resolution of complex technical issues, and driving customer satisfaction across the global installed base.The primary technical focus areas include GE Vernova HMI platforms (WorkstationST, CIMPLICITY), network infrastructure, cybersecurity solutions, and associated software products. The engineer will serve as the subject matter expert for cybersecurity product, network architecture, and HMI system configuration and troubleshooting.
This role involves approximately 30% travel for on-site technical support, commissioning, installation support, and warranty/contractual issue resolution at customer sites across the Middle East and globally.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
- Provide engineering-level technical support for GE Vernova HMI platforms (WorkstationST, CIMPLICITY), network infrastructure, and industrial cyber security systems to global customers.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to HMI applications, network security, firewall configurations, and cyber security compliance through remote and on-site support.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for critical customer issues, ensuring timely resolution and high customer satisfaction while meeting On-Time Delivery commitments.
- Support HMI system integration, cyber security hardening, network configuration, and performance troubleshooting across plant control environments at customer sites.
- Analyse HMI logs, network traffic, security alerts, system behaviour, and vulnerability assessments to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Drive customer On-Time Delivery of warranty and contractual issue resolution across multi-ERP Product Lines and Sites.
- Evaluate and drive new or improved technical support tools, processes, and structures to enhance service delivery.
- Document issues, resolutions, best practices, and recurring problem patterns to improve knowledge sharing and service efficiency.
- Support HMI deployment, cyber security implementation, network commissioning, and ongoing system maintenance at customer sites globally.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Interface directly with customers and other GE functions globally to drive the CSS vision for technical support excellence.
- Act as a technical lead within the support function for complex and high-priority issues, owning and driving completion of customer support cases.
- Mentor junior support engineers and help build technical capability across the team through coaching and knowledge transfer.
- Lead improvement campaigns through stages of development, introduction, and training of identified initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, projects, and service teams to address customer needs and improve product supportability.
- Communicate progress and team performance to all levels of the organization, supporting KPI analysis and predictive reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement feedback loop discussions and initiatives with supporting functions.
- Support Growth Playbook, SII, Blueprint, and Operating Plan process for SCS business.
- Serve as a trusted technical interface for customers, internal stakeholders, and regional teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience with GE Vernova HMI platforms (WorkstationST, CIMPLICITY) and industrial network/cyber security systems
- Proven team leadership skills with the ability to effectively influence, motivate, evaluate, and mentor team members
- Proven experience troubleshooting complex technical issues in both remote and on-site support environments
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30% for on-site technical support and commissioning
Desired Characteristics
- Minimum 12 years of power generation experience with a strong background in HMI systems and industrial cyber security.
- Demonstrated deep expertise in diagnosing and resolving issues across HMI applications, network infrastructure, and cyber security environments.
- Secondary Knowledge on GE turbine control product Mark VIE/ EX2100e will be added benefit.
- Experience working with global teams and previous global responsibilities across multiple regions and time zones.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to varied audiences.
- Ability to work effectively with all organizational levels and lead technical discussions.
- Strong experience delivering customer-facing technical support for HMI, network, and cyber security systems in critical power generation or industrial environments.
- Self-motivated, self-starter capable of remaining flexible to changing work priorities in a dynamic business environment.
- Strong agent of change with focus on executing efficiently in a complex, diverse, and dynamic cross-functional global matrix organization.
- Demonstrated ability to drive solutions in a matrix organization and partner with a global network of stakeholders to deliver results.
