Description

Medical Practice Manager

If you have already run a medical practice and are ready for broader ownership, this is an opportunity to lead a busy on-site ENT/allergy specialty practice in Hunterdon, NJ with 7 physicians and a 37-person team. You will own the daily operating rhythm of the office, the financial and performance picture of the practice, and the process improvements that help clinical and clerical teams work better together—with the support of a growing physician-led specialty-care platform behind you.

The Opportunity

This is not a first-time manager role. The right person has already led a medical practice and is ready to take the next step: owning the business rhythm of the office, partnering effectively with physicians, and creating a stronger operating model for both clinical and clerical teams.

You will report to a Group Practice Manager and work closely with practice physicians and operational leadership. The environment is active, patient-centered, and sometimes fast-moving. It is best suited to someone who can balance the urgent needs of the day with the longer-term work of improving workflows, staffing, financial performance, compliance, patient experience, and team communication.

What You Will Own

Practice Operations

  • Lead day-to-day operations for a 37-person on-site ENT/allergy specialty practice, including physicians and team members across clinical and clerical functions.
  • Keep the practice running smoothly through busy clinic days, competing priorities, staffing needs, patient-flow challenges, and physician requests.
  • Maintain strong operating discipline across scheduling, coverage, office workflows, supplies, communication, service expectations, and practice policies.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical improvements that make the practice more consistent, efficient, and collaborative.
  • Develop, reinforce, and improve standardized procedures so the practice operates with clarity and consistency.

Financial and Performance Management

  • Own the financial operating picture of the practice, not simply react to direction from others.
  • Evaluate labor, supplies, volume, staffing patterns, overtime, scheduling, and spending to support financial success.
  • Use data, reports, and performance metrics to spot trends, make recommendations, and take action that improves practice performance.
  • Balance patient access, physician productivity, team capacity, and cost management in daily decisions.
  • Partner with revenue cycle, billing, and operational leaders to support strong financial processes and follow-through.

People Leadership and Team Collaboration

  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team through clear expectations, accountability, coaching, training, and follow-through.
  • Recruit, onboard, develop, and supervise practice staff across front-office, clerical, clinical, and provider-support functions.
  • Build stronger collaboration between clerical and clinical staff, especially where handoffs, communication, or process gaps create friction.
  • Navigate interpersonal dynamics with professionalism, good judgment, and the ability to bring people toward a shared solution.
  • Help the practice operate as one team while recognizing the distinct needs of front-office, clinical, and physician stakeholders.

Physician Partnership

  • Work effectively with experienced physicians, including strong personalities and high expectations.
  • Serve as a trusted operational partner who can listen, problem-solve, communicate clearly, and follow through.
  • Translate physician and team feedback into practical operational improvements while maintaining standards and accountability.

Patient Experience, Compliance, and Systems

  • Keep patient experience, access, and service quality at the center of operational decisions.
  • Address patient feedback and concerns with professionalism and a practical problem-solving mindset.
  • Support compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, safety protocols, and internal policies.
  • Use EHR and practice management systems to support scheduling, workflows, reporting, and operational visibility.
  • Coordinate with compliance, billing, revenue cycle, and other support teams to keep practice operations aligned.

What Makes You a Strong Fit

  • You have already managed a medical practice and are ready for your next step in scope and ownership.
  • You bring 5+ years of healthcare management or progressive healthcare leadership experience, ideally in a physician practice or ambulatory specialty setting.
  • You understand the financial side of practice management, including labor, supplies, volume, staffing, scheduling, and expense control.
  • You have a strong grasp of practice operations, patient flow, revenue cycle partnership, compliance expectations, and provider support.
  • You are comfortable leading through busy, chaotic days without losing sight of the bigger operational priorities.
  • You can manage multiple priorities and projects while still staying close to daily office operations.
  • You have experience improving practice processes, not just maintaining what already exists.
  • You can build credibility with physicians, clinical staff, clerical staff, and senior operational leaders.
  • You are hands-on, accountable, collaborative, and able to create order without needing a fully built playbook.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Prior leadership experience in an ENT, allergy, audiology, or other specialty medical practice.
  • Experience supporting a practice with multiple physicians and a sizable team.
  • Background improving collaboration between front-office and clinical teams.
  • Experience using practice data to guide staffing, scheduling, expense, access, and workflow decisions.
  • Familiarity with EHR and practice management software.
  • A bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field is preferred, but not required.

Compensation

The expected total compensation range is USD 90,000–110,000 Yearly.
