Description
Technology has an important role to play in improving experiences and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, students and communities.
The University of Sydney is seeking a Senior ICT Business Partner, embedded in ICT to work alongside the Indigenous Strategy & Services portfolio, building trusted relationships and translating strategic priorities into practical technology outcomes.
Joining at an important time of transformation, you will help strengthen the way Indigenous Strategy & Services engages with ICT and ensure technology priorities are understood, supported and progressed across the University.
A targeted opportunity
This is a targeted position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people under Section 21 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
While applications are welcomed from all candidates, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants will be assessed as a priority for this role.
The University is committed to creating a culturally safe, supportive and inclusive workplace, and to strengthening Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation across its workforce.
The opportunity
As Senior ICT Business Partner – Indigenous Strategy & Services, you will become a trusted technology advisor and a key connection point between the portfolio and ICT.
Working closely with Indigenous leaders, Associate Deans, academics and professional staff, you will take the time to understand their priorities, challenges and opportunities. You will then connect stakeholders with the right ICT expertise and help shape clear, practical and achievable technology responses.
The role combines strategic partnership with operational delivery. You may be working with senior leaders to identify longer-term technology priorities, helping resolve an immediate issue or bringing together ICT teams to progress an initiative.
Your focus will be on building confidence, creating clarity and ensuring stakeholder needs are understood throughout the technology lifecycle.
What you will do
You will:
Build trusted relationships across the Indigenous Strategy & Services portfolio.
Understand business priorities and translate them into practical ICT requirements.
Manage and prioritise technology demand through established governance processes.
Connect stakeholders with ICT delivery, architecture, service and specialist teams.
Support initiatives from early exploration through to implementation.
Identify opportunities to improve systems, services and business processes.
Act as a senior escalation point for ICT issues and service concerns.
Strengthen the overall experience of engaging with ICT.
About you
You are an experienced ICT Business Partner, Technology Business Partner or stakeholder engagement professional who can work confidently across both strategic and operational priorities.
You know how to listen, ask the right questions and build credibility with senior stakeholders. You can translate between business and technology teams and bring structure to complex or emerging needs.
You will bring:
Demonstrated experience in an ICT Business Partner or comparable stakeholder-facing role.
A strong record of building trusted relationships in complex organisations.
Highly developed communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience balancing strategic planning with practical delivery.
Experience managing and prioritising technology demand.
The ability to translate business challenges into achievable technology outcomes.
Demonstrated experience working with CRM platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics.
Knowledge of ServiceNow or similar service and demand management platforms.
Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint and collaboration technologies.
Experience in higher education, government or another large and complex organisation will be highly regarded.
