Why this role matters
As Site Electrical Engineer, you will oversee electrical construction activities on site and ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in line with approved quality, schedule, and cost requirements. You will monitor physical progress, coordinate daily with contractors and sub-suppliers, and provide clear reporting on status, risks, and deviations throughout project execution.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will:
- Supervise all electrical construction activities on site and report progress and deviations relating to quality, schedule, cost, and HSSE.
- Oversee installation activities across the plant, including piles, trackers and metal structures, modules, fences, tower erection, and HV and MV electrical equipment assembly.
- Review contractor construction documentation, including method statements, and obtain engineering support and approval when required.
- Support the Quality team in reviewing material and component specifications and datasheets.
- Plan and lead pre-construction meetings with subcontractors, ensuring site activities begin only after requirements and working methods have been agreed.
- Monitor contractors’ daily physical progress, evaluate completion forecasts with the Planning team, and request action or recovery plans when needed.
- Support quantity-surveillance activities and the administration of measurable contracts where applicable.
- Coordinate technical queries from suppliers and facilitate resolution with the Lead Engineer and Electrical Engineer.
- Ensure construction is performed using the latest approved drawings, manuals, and specifications, and verify that red-line documentation is current and signed.
- Coordinate with quality inspectors on critical activities, random inspections, audits, witness points, and hold points.
- Support the Project Technical Manager, Lead Engineer, and Electrical Engineer with technical assessments, investigations, due diligence, and design-related input.
- Support the NCR process and take ownership of following up corrective actions through closure.
- Participate in final inspections and completion activities, and follow up on punch lists, final red-line drawings, and as-built documentation.
Your work will help ensure electrical construction is delivered safely, to the required quality, and in line with project commitments, while strengthening coordination between contractors, engineering, quality, HSSE, planning, project controls, supply chain, and quantity surveying.
What you’ll gain
- Hands-on involvement in medium- to large-scale renewable energy construction projects.
- Practical responsibility for electrical construction supervision, contractor coordination, quality, progress, and completion.
- Close collaboration with project management, engineering, quality, HSSE, planning, project controls, supply chain, and quantity-surveying teams.
- The opportunity to contribute directly to safe, high-quality delivery of utility-scale solar projects.
What you’ll bring
Experience and qualifications
- Degree or technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, electrical construction, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years’ experience in EPC delivery on medium- to large-scale construction projects.
- At least 1 year of ground-mounted PV experience involving tracker systems.
- Experience with PV module mounting structures and site activities such as piling, ramming, pre-drilling, and skid foundations.
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction practices and relevant industry standards.
- Specialisation or additional experience in solar or renewable energy is an advantage.
