Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Full-Time, Day shift, Monday to Friday, Flexible, but typically 8:00 am to 4:30 pm EST
Position Summary:
The Director of Performance Excellence will have responsibility for driving continuous process improvement through the application of lean thinking, Six Sigma, and other process excellence tools to help create a culture of operational excellence. This position will use tools for process improvement to include lean methodologies, Lean Sigma, Six Sigma, project management and other improvement techniques as applicable.
The Director of Performance Excellence will perform and produce tangible operational results. The position will support senior management and operational owners with identifying, scoping, and leading projects that align with business strategy and assist project sponsors with initiatives focused on operational excellence. The role will act as a change agent to instill lean six sigma culture throughout the organization via specific projects and drive measurable business process improvement. Additionally, the Director of Performance Excellence will develop and share new tools and techniques to further the advancement of lean Six Sigma thinking and process creation. This individual will collect and analyze data for determining an improvement strategy, participate in project phase reviews, document project status, facilitate and teach Lean and Six Sigma tools and techniques, coach existing and new teams with Lean Sigma projects, expand application of Lean Thinking techniques to clinical processes, and facilitate application of standardized work practices to both administrative and clinical processes. Perform other duties as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a change agent to instill Lean Sigma culture throughout the organization via specific projects and drive measurable business process improvement.
- Develop and share new tools and techniques to further the advancement of the Lean Sigma program.
- Collect and analyze data for determining an improvement strategy.
- Participate in project phase reviews and document project status.
- Facilitate and teach Lean and Six Sigma tools and techniques.
- Coach existing and new teams with Lean Sigma projects and application of Lean Thinking techniques to clinical processes.
- Expand the application of Lean Thinking techniques to clinical processes.
- Facilitate the application of standardized work practices to both administrative and clinical processes.
- Leads project teams, oversees the work of other project staff, and contributes to performance evaluations.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of multiple departments to positively communicate and work with professionals at all levels of the organization
- Develop credibility with staff at all levels of the organization and understand the needs of a variety of audience members and tailor a message accordingly.
- Support Senior Management and Process Owners with identifying, scoping, and financially justifying projects that align with business strategy and assist project sponsors with the development of project charters.
Desired Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field, preferred
- Analytical ability to develop and interpret application of data.
- High level of organizational skills to manage projects, timetables, and implementations.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, statistical data analysis software, and other desktop applications.
- Experience producing tangible operational and financial results in a healthcare setting.
- Technical knowledge of data collection and analysis.
- Knowledge and experience in applying Lean Sigma and previous experience training staff. Healthcare experience is a plus.
- 3-5 years of Lean Six Sigma or equivalent experience demonstrated by the leadership of several successful Lean or Six Sigma projects.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67–100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver’s license.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.

The posted pay range is a good faith representation of potential base pay for this position. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates could vary based on position details and FTE. Pay is determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, locations, and contracts.
