Job Description Summary

Lead R&D Engineer is a technical expert who combines deep engineering knowledge on design, manufacturing, tests and application of high voltage switchgear apparatus. This role works on NPI and NTI projects (as Project Manager and/or technical support) and gives technical support to after sales, engineering, tendering, production and quality functions. This role also gives technical support in litigation proceedings. Within this scope, this professional must be able to analyze technical studies (i.e., insulation coordination, simulation reports), interpret substation diagrams, using this background in conjunction with knowledge of the design and manufacture of high-voltage equipment, to investigate equipment failures.
This professional must also have the ability to discuss technical matters with external experts from clients or technical institutions.
Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept.

Essencial Responsibilities

• Conceptual or theoretical activities that deals with the study/research and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism.
• Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
• Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
• Uses judgment to make decisions or solve complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead important projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
• Technical support on after sales issues including the analysis of incidents with equipment in operation by verification of relevant operation data, electric circuit simulations, post-mortem analysis and tests. Record relevant information from each analysis by issuing technical reports 
• Critical analysis of technical reports issued by other parties.

Required Qualifications

• BSc in Electrical Engineer.
• Experience working as a high-voltage engineer (engineering, design and/or tests)
• Fluent in Portuguese and English.
• Knowledge of electrical circuit simulations using EMTP tools (e.g. ATP)
• Knowledge of FEA for electrical simulations

• Deep knowledge of Instrument Transformers
