Financial Services Manager

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Bromsgrove District and Redditch to assist with the appointment of a Financial Services Manager, on a 6-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £365.00 - £459.94 per day

Summary:

Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Council is seeking an experienced Financial Services Manager to lead core finance functions within its shared service arrangement with Bromsgrove District Council. The role involves providing strategic and operational financial leadership, overseeing key finance services, maintaining robust financial controls and advising senior officers on financial planning and decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the operational and strategic management of financial planning, budget setting and monitoring.
• Coordinate annual budget processes and monitor revenue and capital expenditure.
• Oversee payroll, exchequer services, treasury management, capital accounting and insurance.
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts and ensure compliance with financial governance requirements.
• Maintain corporate risk management processes and oversee insurance arrangements.

Qualifications:

• CCAB-qualified accountant.
• CIPFA qualification.

Essential Requirements:

• Substantial post-qualification experience in Local Government finance.
• Experience managing revenue and capital budgets.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Proven staff management experience.
• Knowledge and experience of risk management.
