Hospitality Aide – Part-Time

Pay Range: $17.50–$17.55 per hour

Sequoia Transitional Care is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and service-oriented Part-Time Hospitality Aide to support our Nursing Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping others and wants to gain valuable experience in a skilled nursing environment.
The Hospitality Aide provides non-clinical support to residents and nursing staff. This position does not include medication administration, feeding residents, or duties requiring CNA or nursing credentials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer resident call lights promptly and communicate requests to the appropriate CNA or licensed nurse.
- Report resident concerns, changes in condition, accidents, incidents, or unusual observations to the Charge Nurse or Nurse Supervisor.
- Transport residents safely to and from meals, activities, outdoor areas, and other locations within the facility.
- Answer telephones and assist with copying, filing, errands, and other basic nursing-station duties.
- Make resident rounds to adjust blinds, straighten blankets, and ensure call lights and personal items are within reach.
- Straighten resident rooms, closets, and drawers while properly labeling and storing personal belongings.
- Pass clean linens, make unoccupied beds, and provide additional bedding as requested.
- Distribute meal trays, snacks, and beverages; open cartons, refill drinks, and cut food when needed. Hospitality Aides must never feed residents.
- Keep water pitchers clean, filled with fresh water, and within residents’ reach.
- Assist residents with identifying the food and beverages on their trays when appropriate.
- Clean and disinfect wheelchairs, walkers, bedside tables, overbed tables, and other approved equipment.
- Maintain clean and orderly resident rooms and common areas.
- Stock resident rooms and supply areas with briefs, linens, and other necessary items.
- Prepare rooms for new admissions and warmly greet and escort new residents to their rooms.
- Assist with inventorying, labeling, storing, and packing residents’ personal belongings.
- Report grievances, suspected abuse, missing property, safety violations, hazardous conditions, or defective equipment immediately.
- Maintain resident privacy and the confidentiality of all health and personal information.
- Treat every resident with kindness, dignity, fairness, and respect.
- Follow established infection-control, hand-hygiene, bloodborne-pathogen, and workplace-safety procedures.
- Attend required orientation, educational programs, and OSHA and CDC training.
- Use only equipment for which proper training has been completed.
- Perform other non-clinical support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum eighth-grade education required; high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous healthcare, hospitality, housekeeping, or customer-service experience is helpful but not required.
- No CNA certification is required for this non-clinical support position.
- Compassionate and respectful approach to working with residents.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills preferred.
- Dependable attendance and the ability to complete assigned duties safely.
Physical Requirements
The position regularly requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, speaking, hearing, and reading. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds and safely transport residents using wheelchairs. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
