Description
EA Talent Solutions has been engaged by a multi-generational, family-owned commercial real estate development and property management firm in Delaware County, PA—to recruit an experienced Controller.
This is an excellent onsite opportunity for a hands-on Controller to take full ownership of the accounting function across a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential real estate. The ideal candidate comes out of real estate, is equally comfortable in the detail and in the big picture, and can both run day-to-day accounting and deliver the financial reporting that leadership and lenders rely on. This is a role for someone who wants to build and own the function at a stable, community-focused business and make a direct impact on its financial health.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full-cycle accounting function, including the general ledger, journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports across the property portfolio.
- Manage month-end and year-end close and maintain accounting across multiple property entities and partnerships.
- Oversee tenant billing and recoveries for rent, CAM charges, utilities, and real estate taxes, including annual CAM reconciliations.
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules and track capital projects, property improvements, and related expenditures.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash management, and produce reporting to support lenders, audits, acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing.
- Coordinate with outside CPAs on tax filings and serve as the primary financial point of contact for ownership, property managers, and leasing staff.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including controller or assistant controller responsibilities.
- Real estate or property management accounting experience is required.
- Strong command of GAAP, month-end close, financial statement preparation, and general ledger accounting.
- Experience with multi-entity and partnership accounting, tenant recoveries, and CAM, utility, and real estate tax reconciliations.
- Proficiency with Excel—including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables—and property accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, or AppFolio.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA a plus.
- Comfortable working onsite, full-time, five days a week in Delaware County, PA; strong attendance and physical presence expected.
