We are seeking a Senior Data and Analytics Specialist on a permanent basis to join our team.
Job Purpose:
Leads a multidisciplinary development team that designs, builds and scales governed digital solutions across manufacturing and enterprise operations. The role converts high-value business opportunities into an executable product roadmap and delivers measurable outcomes in quality, service, cost, productivity and capacity.
This role owns delivery from problem definition through solution design, development, validation, deployment, adoption and benefit realisation. Working with extended business functions, Quality, IT, cybersecurity, compliance and finance, the Senior Data Scientist establishes reusable engineering practices, develops team capability and ensures solutions are secure, traceable, supportable and scalable across sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and coordinate a development team delivering digital products, analytics and decision-support solutions against an agreed portfolio roadmap.
- Translate business problems into prioritised use cases, clear product requirements, technical designs and delivery plans with defined owners, milestones and value measures.
- Own end-to-end delivery from discovery and proof of concept through industrialisation, deployment, adoption, support and continuous improvement.
- Guide the design and development of data pipelines, governed datasets, semantic models, analytics, AI-enabled workflows and user-facing digital applications.
- Establish engineering standards for architecture, code quality, testing, documentation, validation, monitoring, data lineage, access control and production support.
- Partner with process owners, site teams and subject-matter experts to co-design solutions that address common needs and can be reused and scaled across the network.
- Manage delivery risks, dependencies, resources and technical decisions; remove barriers and provide clear progress, options and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Define baselines and success measures with Finance and business owners, track adoption and realised benefits, and ensure the team remains focused on solutions that create measurable value.
- Build team capability through mentoring, technical review, knowledge sharing and structured development of data, software, product and business-domain skills.
Education & Experience:
Education & Certifications
- Honours bachelor’s degree (level 8) or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Data Analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong practical knowledge of SQL, Python or R, data platforms, integrations, analytics, reporting and digital application delivery.
- Formal training or certification in agile delivery, product management, cloud platforms, data engineering or people leadership is advantageous.
Experience
- Typically 7+ years of relevant experience in data science, data engineering, analytics, software development or digital manufacturing, including experience leading technical delivery or mentoring developers.
- Demonstrated success leading a team or workstream to deliver production-grade digital solutions from concept through deployment, adoption and support.
- Experience defining product roadmaps, prioritising backlogs, planning resources and managing delivery across multiple stakeholders and dependencies.
- Experience integrating enterprise and operational data from systems such as SAP, MES, equipment, historians, APIs, data lakes or cloud platforms.
- Practical experience with data quality, metadata, lineage, security, validation, monitoring and documented support processes in a regulated environment.
- Proven ability to quantify expected benefits, communicate technical trade-offs and drive delivery toward measurable business outcomes.
