Process Overview*

Global Corporate & Investment Banking (GCIB) , Global Markets (GM), International Finance & Corporate Treasury strives to be a valued business partner to the company's trading, corporate, institutional & banking businesses and is responsible for funding the balance sheet, maintaining strong capital and liquidity positions, managing interest rate risk and overseeing company’s relationship with external stakeholders.

Our priority is to operate a series of key control processes to ensure the integrity of the group's financial results. Then we build on these activities to offer performance insight to business leaders.

Enterprise Capital management (ECM) implements the Board’s capital management strategy including issuance, redemption or repurchase of common stock and other capital instruments. ECM works closely with lines of business and guides them to efficiently and proactively manage the enterprise's capital including design and implementation of capital allocation methodologies. In addition, ECM produces and monitors regulatory and internal economic capital metrics including capital adequacy ratios, leverage exposure and risk-weighted assets and oversees the end-to-end capital measurement process across the enterprise including Basel calculations and adherence, partnering with other control functions, ECM manages external disclosures related to capital management including 10Q, 10K, Pillar 3 disclosures and other regulatory filings. ECM interfaces with banking regulators globally on all capital-related matters.

Job Description*

The role is part of the Enterprise Capital Management (ECM) team and assists in driving banking portfolio calculations and reporting of capital for Global banking transactions, including consideration of any new regulations, timely and accurate preparation of the company’s regulatory capital results; research causes of unanticipated capital changes; end-to-end review, analysis, and ad-hoc analytical reporting to senior management and regulatory agencies. Success requires understanding of regulatory capital rules and the ability to formulate means by which answers may be derived from large sets of data.

As part of the responsibilities of the role, the teammate will develop business partner relationships within ECM, e.g. various workstreams, ECM Technology, Quality Assurance, Capital Risk and Internal/External audit. Throughout the tenure of the role, the teammate will gain exposure and understanding in Basel 3 Capital Calculations for the Corporation and develop/improve the following skills: communication and project coordination, time management.

Responsibilities

• Produce and monitor Market Risk and Credit risk risk-weighted assets (RWA) metrics and reports
• Prepare COREP templates related to Market Risk, Credit Risk, Leverage & Large Exposure
• Be responsible for investigating and explaining period over period capital movements
• Build relationships with partners and ensure appropriate level of capital knowledge
• Foster relationships with partners in capital management, business and finance to resolve questions, provide data as necessary with great attention to detail
• Demonstrate clear understanding of drivers on capital calculations and the ability to communicate results
• Analysis of underlying drivers for periodic changes and variances
• Assist with execution of routines to support daily, month-end and quarter end close cycles
• Supporting firmwide initiatives and ECM projects to test complex logic and heavy data sets for regulatory reforms or strategic fixes.
• Partner with tech team to identify continuous improvement on existing routines, leveraging new tools or emerging technology

Requirements

Education

Qualified Chartered Accountant/CPA /CFA / MBA/ B. Tech from Tier I/II institute with at least 8 yrs. Possess strong technical background with in-depth understanding of Global Markets business, balance sheet, liquidity, capital, regulatory landscape and processes.

Experience Range

3 to 4 years with at least 1 years’ experience in Treasury function managing capital, marker risk and credit risk calculations.

Foundational skills*

• Strong understanding of Basel capital requirements and financials, preferably in a UK / EMEA bank setting
• Experience and exposure to RWA and capital calculations is must
• Prior experience working in accounting or financial services
• Knowledge of Banking products and risk management
• Intellectual curiosity, regularly asking questions to enable rapid learning of a complex topic.
• Self-starter with ability to be proactive and well organized.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship management skills
• Candidate must have a proven track record of communicating effectively with personnel from various areas within an organization and at different management levels
• Attention to detail, analytical abilities/financial acumen/problem solving skills
• Strong control mindset including ability to identify risks and build and maintain associated controls
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment
• Demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure environment

• Effective communication skills with English proficiency
• Advanced experience/skills with Excel and complex spreadsheets
• Able to work both independently and as team member
• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities (Excel/Essbase)

• Technical Business Analyst skills (SQL, VBA, Tableau, Alteryx, Python, AI/ML)Takes initiative and challenges existing processes and procedures in a proactive manner
