Take ownership of the site H&S agenda, act promptly on risk, intervene when needed and follow actions through to completion.

Understand how work is really done, ask the right questions, use evidence and investigate root causes before recommending solution.

Build trust across the site, involve colleagues in solutions and help managers develop the confidence and capability to lead safety well.

Key Responsibilities

You'll have:

·   Practical H&S experience in a manufacturing, food production, FMCG or similarly operational environment.

·   Sound working knowledge of UK H&S legislation and the ability to turn legal requirements into practical site controls.

·   A practical understanding of common manufacturing risks, including machinery, workplace transport, chemical safety, manual handling and working at height.

·   Hands-on experience of completing and reviewing risk assessments, COSHH assessments, SOPs and safe systems of work.

·   Experience of incident and near-miss investigation, root-cause analysis and tracking corrective actions to closure.

·   Strong reporting and analytical skills, with the ability to maintain accurate systems, interpret H&S data and present clear recommendations.

·   Confidence in delivering inductions, training and toolbox talks and in coaching managers and colleagues at all levels.

·   A visible, proactive and organised approach, with the courage to challenge unsafe practice and take accountability for follow-through.

·   Good written communication, attention to detail and competence with Microsoft Office and digital H&S systems.

It would be great if you also have:

·   Ability to speak Tamil is highly desirable but not mandatory.

·   A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent, or a commitment to work towards it with company support.

·   Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.

·   Membership of IOSH.

·   Experience of contractor safety, internal audits and emergency preparedness.

Experience of environmental or sustainability improvement activity.
