Department Overview
Since its founding in 1997, Rakuten has expanded its business scale centered on its shopping mall business, Rakuten Ichiba, and credit card business, Rakuten Card. We have also successfully launched a new telecommunications business, Rakuten Mobile. Based on these three pillars, Rakuten has grown to ¥2.3 trillion in group revenue by fiscal year 2024.

The President's Office/Corporate Strategy Department, to which this position belongs, was newly reorganized in July 2025. It is a small but elite strategic planning department directly under the Business President, and is involved in projects focused on strategic planning, business conception, management transformation, and business development.

As Rakuten's fourth pillar, it has a dynamic mission to drive the evolution of its advertising business, making this the perfect organization and timing for you to be involved in upstream management and experience its dynamism.

As a member of the newly reorganized organization that will make advertising the fourth pillar of Rakuten, he will serve as the right-hand man to the President of the Ad & Media Company. In this organization that is still in the launch phase, he will work with the President to consistently lead the business strategy from formulation to execution, and is expected to establish a new advertising business model that makes maximum use of the assets of the Rakuten economic sphere.

Position Details
As a founding member of the new President's Office organization, you will be responsible for communicating with top management (the President and each business unit head), connecting upstream strategies with on-site business operations, and working at the core of business strategy, analyzing the current situation, identifying issues, formulating measures, and leading projects necessary to become the fourth pillar of our business.

Major Duties
- Developing a company-wide advertising strategy
- Proposing top management proposals to the CxO
- Driving strategic projects

Specific Project Examples
- Overseeing the entire business's service/product portfolio and planning optimal resource allocation and growth strategies
- Integrating and reorganizing marketing assets within the group to create synergies and achieve efficiency
- Leading the creation of new businesses and the expansion of existing businesses through M&A and strategic alliances
- Identifying and analyzing opportunities for expansion into overseas markets and promoting global business expansion

Mandatory Qualifications:
- The ability to identify fundamental issues from complex situations and consider solutions from multiple perspectives.
- The communication and project management skills to build smooth relationships and reach consensus with diverse stakeholders (executive management, division managers, field personnel, etc.).
- The ability to accurately articulate and visualize abstract concepts/insights.

Desired Qualifications:
You must have any of the following experience and qualifications:
- Experience in strategic planning and execution of new or existing businesses worth tens of billions of yen
- 2-3+ years of work experience at a consulting firm
- 2-3+ years of policy planning experience at a government agency
- Experience in data analysis and modeling using Excel and SQL
