The Night Support Worker is responsible for providing safe, person-centred care and support to residents throughout the night. The role involves promoting residents' wellbeing, dignity, independence, and recovery while ensuring the home remains a safe and supportive environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing emotional and practical support to residents during the night.
- Carrying out regular welfare checks and responding to residents' needs.
- Administering or supporting with medication in accordance with company policies and training.
- Maintaining accurate care records and completing incident reports where required.
- Supporting residents with personal care where needed while promoting dignity and independence.
- Managing challenging behaviour calmly and professionally, using de-escalation techniques where appropriate.
- Ensuring the security and safety of the home by carrying out health and safety checks.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and providing a clear handover to the day staff.
- Following all company policies, safeguarding procedures, confidentiality requirements, and the standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The Night Support Worker is expected to maintain professional behaviour at all times, treat residents and colleagues with respect, follow reasonable management instructions, and contribute to a positive and safe working environment.
