Course: Emergency Medical Care Technician Fundamentals

This course is designed to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to function effectively as Emergency Medical Care Technicians (EMCTs) in a variety of emergency situations. This foundational course integrates theoretical learning with hands-on practical training, ensuring students are well-prepared to deliver critical pre-hospital medical care with competence and confidence. Throughout the course, students will acquire a comprehensive understanding of EMS systems, medical terminology, and basic anatomy and physiology. They will learn essential assessment techniques, patient care procedures, and effective communication skills essential for interacting with patients, bystanders, and healthcare professionals.

What You Will Do:

• Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions
• Engage students in learning course objectives and topics
• Assess student performance and mentor success in the classroom
• Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University

Qualifications:

• Preferred: MD, DO, RN, or PA licensure or degree with at least 2 years of experience providing emergency medical services, or a Master's degree in any field and an Emergency Medical Care Technician (EMCT) certification with at least 2 years of experience at that classification of EMCT.
• Minimum: MD, DO, RN, or PA licensure or degree with at least 2 years of experience providing emergency medical services, or a Bachelor's degree in any field and an Emergency Medical Care Technician (EMCT) certification
