Job Title: Medical Billing & Authorization Assistant
Job Location: 113 W. Drinker St. Dunmore, PA
Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm

Summary: Traditional Home Health Care is seeking a skilled Medical Billing & Authorization Assistant to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for accurately processing medical claims, ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Reading and analyzing patient records
• Determining the correct codes for patient records
• Using codes to bill insurance providers
• Checking insurances for copays, limitations on visits and authorization requirements
• Verifying multiple types of insurances
• Submitting authorizations for services
• Work through claim denials and appeals processes
• Keeping track of patient data over multiple visits
• Managing detailed, specifically-coded information
• Maintaining patient confidentiality
• Collaborate with the Billing Department to resolve billing discrepancies.

Requirements:

• Knowledge in appeals and denials

• Proficient in Home Health and Hospice billing and authorization experience is preferred

• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and primary/secondary insurances

• Knowledge of medical terminology, provider contracts, fee schedules, payment methodologies and other relevant software applications and reporting requirements is preferred

• Skilled in data analysis and problem solving using defined methodologies

• Ability to research resolutions to billing/authorization issues independently 

• Ability to work independently across multiple projects with minimal supervision

• Ability to use discretion concerning sensitive information and adhere to HIPAA

• Ability to communicate professionally, clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing

• Ability to prioritize effectively and consistently multitask
