As a Field Service Engineer – Semiconductor Gas Systems, you will serve as a key technical contributor for the general operations, maintenance, and reliability of semiconductor gas delivery and vendor-provided bulk gas purification systems. In this role, you will support mission-critical manufacturing environments by ensuring the continuous, ultra-high purity (UHP) delivery of gases including Argon, Nitrogen, Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Helium.

Ideally, you bring a valuable blend of overall gas systems expertise, analytical instrumentation knowledge, and familiarity with purification technologies (including ambient and regenerating heated getter-style purifiers). You will guide the entire lifecycle of system equipment—from installation engineering support and routine testing to technical troubleshooting and emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Gas System Operations: Guide the daily performance and general operations of complex semiconductor gas distribution and bulk purification systems to ensure an uninterrupted, in-spec gas supply.

  • Analytical Testing & Instrumentation: Set up, calibrate, and operate sensitive analytical instruments to facilitate gas quality testing. Monitor system purity levels and generate test and analytical reports.

  • Maintenance & Repair: Carry out preventative maintenance (PM) schedules, perform purifier regenerations, and complete corrective mechanical and electrical repairs on gas system piping, valves, and control components. Document all activities within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

  • Troubleshooting & Engineering Diagnostics: Diagnose complex electro-mechanical failures and process upsets in pressurized environments, utilizing electrical schematics and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to perform root-cause analysis.

  • Installation Support: Provide technical guidance during the installation and commissioning of new gas delivery systems and purification skids, ensuring compliance with strict site specifications and safety codes.

  • Contractor Collaboration: Coordinate and support third-party contractors during site projects, actively promoting safety compliance and the quality of execution.

  • Emergency Response: Provide on-call and agile response support to address unexpected gas system upsets nationwide, minimizing manufacturing downtime.

  • Inventory Control: Provide Operations site support to maintain and optimize an on-site spare parts inventory for key gas systems to maximize equipment availability. Documentation: Support the development of site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Communication: Maintain routine, clear communication with customers and internal operations teams.

  • EHS Compliance: Comply with all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) standards, including but not limited to PPE, Forklift Operations, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), and Confined Space Entry.
