At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

This role supports the sustainment and build of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, and installing New Glenn hardware! Your scope delivers safe, reliable, ready-to-install hardware that meets requirements and acceptance criteria.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to impact safe human spaceflight positively. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities:

  • Support production efforts by triaging work stoppages, investigating root cause and corrective actions, and dispositioning non-conforming hardware.
  • Collaborate with many internal stakeholders to define requirements, dependencies, and schedule needs associated with delivering integrated fluid systems
  • Lead team-based identification, decomposition, and estimation of work scope for full lifecycle fluids hardware development
  • Manage project schedule, resources, and cost – present status of effort, including risks, variances and recovery plans to program management
  • Work to continuously improve the team processes and manage team assignments to move quickly while meeting human space flight standards
  • Perform procurement, integration support, and discrepancy resolution
  • Oversee fluid component and subsystem level testing including test planning, test execution, data reduction, and analysis
  • Create and modify drawings, specifications, and other documentation

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 3+ years of industry experience in detail design / development of aerospace or equivalent-type fluid systems and project management
  • Strong knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, and fittings
  • Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components
  • Working knowledge of materials and treatments
  • Experience leading at least 1 multi-person development project, managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, cost, and communications
  • Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E and Pro/E Piping) and PDM (Windchill)
  • Knowledge in the use of FEA analysis tools (ANSYS preferred)
  • Knowledge of the application and use of welding
  • Experience with high pressure, cryogenic systems, GN2, and Peroxide
