Description
This is one of three newly created HR Business Partner opportunities within our evolving HR team. We are also recruiting HR Business Partners to support our Assets & Infrastructure and Corporate & Commercial functions. Key Responsibilities
- Act as the dedicated HR Business Partner for the Finance and IT functions, building trusted relationships with leaders and managers
- Partner with leaders to develop and deliver people plans aligned to business objectives and the People Strategy
- Provide strategic advice and constructive challenge to improve organisational effectiveness, workforce planning and operational performance
- Identify people-related risks, trends and opportunities, recommending practical and commercially focused solutions
- Interpret workforce analytics and people insights to influence decision-making and improve organisational performance
- Support workforce planning and organisational effectiveness initiatives across Finance and IT
- Partner with functional leaders to identify capability gaps and develop people solutions that support business growth and operational excellence.
- Partner with leaders to attract, develop and retain talented colleagues
- Lead talent reviews and succession planning activities across supported business areas.
- Work with the Talent & Development team to deliver leadership development and organisational capability initiatives
- Support performance and development processes, ensuring a clear link between performance, capability and career progression
- Promote a high-performance culture through effective performance management, accountability and continuous development
- Support functional leaders to develop capability and succession plans for critical and specialist roles.
- Coach senior leaders to strengthen people management capability and leadership effectiveness
- Support leaders to build engaged, high-performing teams and deliver local engagement action plans
- Champion a positive employee experience through consistent application of people policies and practices
- Support organisational change, restructures and transformation programmes
- Lead engagement, culture and leadership effectiveness initiatives across the Finance and IT functions
- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders during organisational change and business transformation.
- Lead complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management and performance cases
- Provide expert advice on employment legislation, company policy and HR best practice
- Ensure employee relations matters are managed fairly, consistently and in line with legal requirements
- Provide guidance to HR Services on escalated employee relations matters where appropriate
- Work proactively with leaders to minimise people-related risks and build management capability through coaching and practical advice.
- Partner with HR Services and Centres of Expertise to deliver integrated people solutions
- Implement and embed Group-wide people initiatives across supported business areas
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes, policies and ways of working
- Use workforce data, employee feedback and business insights to improve organisational effectiveness and the employee experience
- Build strong collaborative relationships across Finance, IT and the wider HR team to support business priorities.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- CIPD Level 7 qualification, or working towards, is desirable
- Proven experience operating as an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Generalist within a commercially focused organisation
- Significant experience partnering with senior leaders to deliver strategic people initiatives and measurable business outcomes
- Experience leading organisational change, organisational design, workforce planning and transformation programmes
- Strong experience managing complex employee relations matters and providing commercially focused advice on high-impact people issues
- Experience interpreting and analysing complex people, workforce and business data to identify trends, generate meaningful insights and make evidence-based recommendations that support business performance and strategic decision-making
- Experience supporting Finance and IT business functions
- Experience working within a business partnering model alongside HR Services and Centres of Expertise
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
- Experience using Workday or similar HR information systems is desirable.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build credibility quickly across all levels of the organisation
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how people strategies contribute to business performance
- Ability to influence, coach and constructively challenge senior leaders, driving accountability and informed decision-making
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term planning with practical operational delivery
- Advanced analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex people and business data, identify trends and translate insights into practical recommendations that improve organisational performance
- Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage and influence senior stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability
- High levels of integrity, professionalism and discretion when managing confidential and sensitive matters
