The Low Voltage Installer/ Electrician is responsible for the installation of low-voltage systems on commercial construction projects. This role focuses on the physical installation of cable pathways, pulling and terminating low-voltage cabling, mounting devices, and supporting system installations according to project plans and industry standards. This is a hands-on construction position rather than a service or troubleshooting role.
Responsibilities:
- Pull, route, and secure low-voltage cable (CAT5/6, fiber, coaxial, fire alarm, security, access control, and related wiring).
- Install conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, supports, and other cable management systems.
- Mount and install devices, panels, cameras, card readers, speakers, and other low-voltage equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and installation specifications.
- Assist with rough-in and trim-out phases of commercial construction projects.
- Work safely from ladders, lifts, and scaffolding.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site.
- Follow OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies.
- Coordinate with foremen, electricians, and other trades to complete projects on schedule.
- Assist senior technicians with system startup and testing as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience in commercial low-voltage construction preferred.
- Ability to pull cable and perform physically demanding work throughout the day.
- Comfortable climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Basic ability to read construction drawings.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to job sites if required.
- OSHA 10 certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent climbing, kneeling, crawling, and standing.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable working on ladders, scissor lifts, and construction sites.
