The Fitness Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the fitness program within the Club & Spa. The position will evaluate class performance, develop innovative fitness programming, increase member participation, enhance member engagement, and support overall wellness initiatives that drive membership satisfaction, retention, and revenue growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and support Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers.
- Conduct regular observations and evaluations of fitness classes and personal training sessions.
- Provide ongoing feedback, training, and development opportunities to fitness staff.
- Analyze class attendance, member participation, and fitness trends to evaluate existing programs and recommend enhancements, modifications, new classes, workshops, wellness challenges, and special events that meet member needs and drive engagement.
- Partner with the Club & Spa Manager to develop and implement seasonal, fun and exciting fitness programming, including themed programs, promotional initiatives, and revenue-generating wellness offerings that increase participation, retention, and overall member satisfaction.
- Build strong relationships with members by understanding their fitness goals, providing orientations and consultations as needed, and promoting participation through outreach, engagement campaigns, and wellness education.
- Ensure fitness facilities and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming environment that supports an exceptional member and guest experience.
- Address member questions, concerns, and service recovery opportunities promptly and professionally while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Promote and market fitness programs, personal training services, wellness initiatives, and special events to maximize member involvement and support departmental revenue goals.
What are we looking for?
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Recreation, Health Promotion, or related field preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years of fitness leadership, supervisory, or program management experience.
- Experience leading group fitness programs and personal training teams preferred.
- Hospitality, health club, resort, country club, or spa experience preferred.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required.
- Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification preferred (NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, or equivalent).
- Group Fitness Certification preferred.
