In this role, the successful candidate will optimise cutting routines, resolve complex automation bottlenecks, and ensure strict quality tolerances across high-volume production lines.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Program, test, and optimize CNC and robotic toolpaths from CAD/CAM models and engineering specs.
- Configure CNC machines, industrial robots, and automated cells for maximum throughput and precision.
- Run simulations, dry runs, and setup checks to validate toolpaths and prevent collisions.
- Troubleshoot programming, mechanical, and robotic faults to minimize downtime.
- Optimize cycle times, toolpaths, and material usage to reduce scrap and lean out production.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Production, and Maintenance on NPI and process upgrades.
- Maintain version-controlled program revisions, setup sheets, and tooling documentation.
- Train and mentor machine operators and cell technicians on standardized work instructions.
- Uphold QMS standards, SOPs, and plant safety protocols.
- Drive automation projects and continuous improvement initiatives to boost overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Robotics.
- Credentials in CNC programming, robotics, or major CAD/CAM suites are preferred.
- Proven track record in CNC machining, robotic programming, and automated manufacturing.
- Solid command of tooling, feeds/speeds, machining dynamics, and automated material handling.
- Proficient in CAD/CAM and direct G-code/M-code programming.
- Experience with industrial robots (Fanuc, KUKA, ABB, UR, Yaskawa) is an asset.
- Skilled in GD&T, engineering drawings, and technical datasheets.
- Strong diagnostic skills for machining anomalies and kinematic errors under production deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, with strong cross-functional communication.
- Must already be located in Malta.
Benefits:
- Paid Overtime.
