We are seeking a highly motivated Manager, Real Estate Accounting to join our Toronto-based Real Estate Accounting team. This role is responsible for overseeing a team of Analysts and Senior Analysts, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial results across multiple portfolios and business units. The successful candidate will provide strong people leadership through coaching, performance management, and resource planning, while also delivering strategic financial analysis and partnering with senior leadership on key business priorities. As Oxford implements Yardi as its new financial system in fiscal 2027, this role will also serve as a key Yardi subject matter expert and change champion, providing guidance, support, and system expertise across the team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Acting as a key Yardi subject matter expert and change champion during the fiscal 2027 implementation, serving as a bridge between the implementation team and Real Estate Accounting, supporting adoption across accounting managers and accountants, troubleshooting process questions, and identifying opportunities to leverage Yardi to strengthen reporting, controls, and efficiency.

  • Supporting accounting managers and accountants through the Yardi implementation by providing hands-on guidance, troubleshooting support, and practical training on new processes, workflows, reporting capabilities, and control requirements.

  • Coordinating and reviewing monthly financial results including detailed variance and projection analysis, annual property and tenant audited statements, and government reporting and remittances;

  • Managing a team to ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end general ledger close for portfolio of assigned properties;

  • Coaching, mentoring and providing feedback to direct reports, including interim and annual written performance reviews, development plans and business plans;

  • Budgeting, cash flow management/forecasting, and distributions to owners;

  • Preparing and coordinating year-end audit files and financial statements for external audit and legal entity tax filings;

  • Maintaining a strong control environment to minimize risk;

  • Providing accounting and financial guidance to the real estate management group including review of new leases, potential financial impact of lease terms and financial impact of new or existing accounting rules and guidelines;

  • Working closely with Oxford’s Investment team to assist with acquisition and disposition of properties including review of purchase and sale agreements and statement of adjustments;

  • Liaising with internal groups including tax, legal, treasury, corporate accounting, and leasing on property specific and structural issues as required;

  • Ensuring timely and accurate GST/HST filings and remittances;

  • Leading or participating in special projects with a focus on continuous improvement and process automation to improve efficiencies in day to day responsibilities, as well as people and culture initiatives.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Real Estate Accounting & Financial Acumen: Expertise in property accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and technical accounting.

  • People Leadership & Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate accounting teams while building strong partnerships across the business.

  • Systems & Change Management: Strong Yardi experience with the ability to lead system implementations, drive adoption, and enhance processes through technology and automation.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Yardi (Voyager 8 preferred)

  • A minimum 7 years of experience in accounting, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Experience in Property Accounting is preferred;

  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role, leading a team of accountants or finance professionals;

  • A post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Commerce,  Accounting or Finance, with a CPA designation;

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and with proven financial analytical skills to interpret financial results, identify risks/opportunities, and provide recommendations;

  •  Strong understanding of technical accounting for complex transactions (e.g., acquisitions, dispositions, debt structuring);

  • Strong change management skills, with the ability to support teams through system and process transformation, translate technical system changes into practical accounting impacts, and build confidence across users with varying levels of system experience.

  • A track recording of thriving in organizations that constantly evolve and adapt;

  • A mindset of collaborative sharing of knowledge within a teamwork environment;

  • A drive to achieve results and continuously strive to deliver the highest performance

  • Excellent time management to balance personal deliverables with oversight of direct reports;

  • Experience implementing AI in day to day tasks to improve the efficiency of yourself and your teams.

The expected salary range for this position is $105,000 - 155,000 per year.
