Purpose of the role

To enable data-driven strategic and operational decision making through extracting actionable insights from large datasets, performing statistical and advanced analytics to uncover trends and patterns, and presenting findings through clear visualisations and reports.

Accountabilities

• Investigation and analysis of data issues related to quality, lineage, controls, and authoritative source identification, documenting data sources, methodologies, and quality findings with recommendations for improvement. 
• Designing and building data pipelines to automate data movement and processing.
• Apply advanced analytical techniques to large datasets to uncover trends and correlations, develop validated logical data models, and translate insights into actionable business recommendations that drive operational and process improvements, leveraging machine learning/AI.
• Through data-driven analysis, translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations, identifying opportunities for operational and process improvements.
• Design and create interactive dashboards and visual reports using applicable tools and automate reporting processes for regular and ad-hoc stakeholder needs.

Join us as a Data Analyst at Barclays where you will be part of the Portfolio Office team within Corporate Data Services (CDS) and will be responsible for various activities related to the management of financial forecasts, analysis of project and portfolio financials, tracking and analysis of demand pipelines, maintenance of various trackers and governance / control artefacts, reporting and supporting delivery teams with various forms of query handling. In this role, you will be a key point of contact with stakeholders across a wide range of areas and levels of seniority beyond the bounds of CDS.

The Data Analyst role would suit someone who for example has a background in data analysis or business analysis with an interest / experience in financials, or has a financial background with interest / experience in a more project and delivery focused environment.

To be successful as a Data Analyst, you should have experience with:

• Assimilating and analysing large / complex datasets, while able to demonstrate numeracy and an excellent eye for detail, especially financial and project data
• Ability / instinct to intuit & address data anomalies, while driving and delivering clear articulation of actionable insights.
• Strong Excel skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely, while demonstrating active listening and ability to be assertive when required

• Application of AI in these contexts (e.g. building agents to support data analysis activities, process automation, etc.)
