Role Overview 

The Sr. Analyst, Business Strategy & Operations will serve as the analytical and operational engine behind Cboe's global Market Data Administration organization - functioning as chief of staff and de facto business operator to senior global market data leadership. Reporting to the Head of Market Data Administration, this role owns the metrics, reporting frameworks, and operating cadence that the business runs on. 

This is a builder's role. Market Data Administration sits at the intersection of contracts, entitlements, usage reporting, billing, and compliance across thousands of firms worldwide. The person in this seat will decide what gets measured, automate what shouldn't be manual, and turn a large volume of operational data into decisions leadership can act on. 

We are looking for raw analytical horsepower paired with genuine business instinct. The ideal candidate is technical by training or by trade -  an engineer, data analyst, or similar - fluent with databases, exceptional in Excel, and motivated to grow into a skilled business operator rather than remain a pure analyst.  

Experience in financial markets is a plus, not a prerequisite; we will teach the market data business to someone who brings the horsepower and the appetite. 

The individual will be a self-starter who is intelligent, eager, personable, highly organized, and comfortable operating with ambiguity in a fast-paced, complex, and intellectually rewarding environment. 

Location: Selected candidate must be willing to work a hybrid schedule in our Chicago office. Approximately 10% travel. 

Your Responsibilities Will Be 

Strategy & Execution 

• Serve as a thought partner to senior global market data leadership on strategic priorities, translating direction into executable plans with clear owners, milestones, and measures of success 

• Drive the operating cadence of the organization (planning cycles, business reviews, and leadership meetings) and hold the organization accountable to its commitments 

• Own business case development for headcount, tooling, and technology investments; build the model, defend the assumptions, and carry the decision through to implementation 

• Prepare analysis, memos, and executive-ready materials for senior leadership and cross-divisional stakeholders 

Analytics, Reporting & Automation 

• Design and build the KPI and metrics framework for Market Data Administration: define what matters, source the data, and make the reporting trustworthy 

• Query operational data directly across databases and reporting platforms to answer questions no existing report answers 

• Build and maintain dashboards and recurring reporting that replace manual effort; identify automation opportunities and drive them to implementation 

• Develop financial and operational models covering capacity, workforce, revenue at risk, and scenario analysis 

Operational Planning & Organizational Design 

• Lead operational planning, workforce analysis, and capacity modeling across a global team 

• Assess organizational structure and process against actual workload; recommend and implement changes that improve throughput and scalability 

• Document and standardize core processes, and establish controls and quality measures where none exist today 

Cross-Functional Partnership & Process Optimization 

• Partner with Sales, Client Experience, Market Data Services, Product, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Engineering to resolve complex issues that span team boundaries 

• Serve as an escalation point for operational issues that cross organizational lines, and provide thought leadership on operational excellence and scalability 

• Support technology adoption across the organization, including entitlements, usage reporting, billing, and administration platforms 

The Ideal Candidate Has 

• 5+ years of experience in business operations, strategy and operations, data analytics, consulting, engineering, or a comparable analytical role 

• BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline; MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred 

• Advanced Excel skills: able to build models from scratch and work confidently with large datasets, pivot tables, Power Query, and complex formula logic. This is a real requirement, not a checkbox 

• Working fluency with databases and data structures; SQL experience is a significant plus 

• Proficiency with data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools such as Sigma, Power BI or Tableau 

• Demonstrated ability to bridge technical analysis and business decision-making; someone who can write the query and then explain what the business should do about the answer 

• Strong business acumen and a clear ambition to develop into a skilled business operator 

• Excellent written and verbal communication, including prior experience preparing written analysis and documents for senior audiences 

• Ability to prioritize across multiple competing projects, shift focus quickly as priorities change, and identify and escalate risks to successful execution early 

• Sound judgment on complex and ambiguous matters, and a service orientation toward internal and external stakeholders 

• Self-starter who delivers both independently and as part of a team, and meets deadlines without being managed to them 

• Experience in financial markets or the market data business is a plus, not a requirement

Salary Ranges (applicable for US locations only)

At Cboe, we are committed to providing a competitive, transparent, and market‑informed total rewards program. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $102,850-$133,100, with actual compensation determined by job‑related factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal alignment, and location.

 

 

This role may also be eligible for annual incentive compensation and, where applicable, participation in Cboe's long-term equity programs.
