Location and Hours: 

Our headquarters is located in North Kingstown, RI. This opportunity is to work full-time (40 hours per week), Monday through Friday with flexibility in hours to be determined during the interview process. The position is fully in-person. 

About the Role:

Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager and Laboratory Director, the Quality Assurance Specialist aids in the implementation and oversight of the laboratory’s quality management program. The position requires an ability to write clearly, respond quickly to known issues, and to demonstrate innovative thinking when solving problems.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Ongoing participation in the development, oversight, and maintenance of the clinical laboratory Quality Assurance plan, in accordance with federal and state guidelines.

· Assists in policy and procedure development.

· Under the direction of the QA Manager, coordinates the development and performance of internal audits.

· Actively participates in the audit process, including preparing audit reports and overseeing audit response processes.

· Participates in preparing the laboratory for external inspections and ensuring any deficiencies or recommendations are properly documented and addressed. 

· Works directly with the QA Manager to identify and mitigate potential compliance, patient, and/or testing risks through investigation of deviations and monitoring of corrective and preventative actions, as they relate to non-compliance findings.

· Participates in the writing and revising of standard operating procedures, as applicable.

· Works with laboratory management to identify areas for improvement and monitoring.

· Collects and compiles statistical quality data; when appropriate, works with members of the IT department to capture data for subsequent analysis.

· Generates quality data presentations, graphics, and/or dashboards utilizing analytic software like Excel or Power BI.

· Works with laboratory director and managers, in conjunction with IT department to develop automated queries and/or dashboards to monitor quality processes.

· In conjunction with the laboratory management team, investigates customer complaints and non-conformance issues.

· Works with Customer and Field Operations to ensure ongoing pre-analytic quality processes.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.

· Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution

· Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in CLIA regulation 42 CFR 493.1489(b)(ii).

· Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving skills.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Detail oriented, organized.

· Self-motivated, with strong leadership abilities.

· Must be results oriented, multi-tasking, quick learner and able to respond to the urgent needs of the team.

· Shows a strong track record of meeting deadlines.

· Good computer skills.

· Able to adapt quickly to continually changing environment.

Physical Requirements:

· Manual dexterity to accommodate tasks such as typing and instrument operation.

· Work unassisted under the current configurations of the laboratory.

· Reach from ground level to 5 feet. Able to use a step stool in order to access higher areas.

· Able to lift 10 lbs.

Compensation:

• The position pays an annual salary of $60,000-$63,000, commensurate with experience.
