Job Description:
ASU Gammage is seeking part-time employees to work in the front of house during events. This position monitors and oversees the front of house activities during performances at ASU Gammage and other venues on campus, including handling patron complaints, writing incident reports and supervising the floor managers all while contributing to the welcoming environment in our venues. ASU Gammage accommodates up to 3,000 patrons a night. The ideal team members will have worked on the housestaff in some capacity in the past and are familiar with our operations. Position Salary Range: $20.75 per hour
Primary Duties:
Monitor the work of ushers/ticket takes
Answer inquiries of patrons and Floor Managers
Collect tickets from patrons and ensure tickets are valid
Ensure prohibited items, such as containers of alcohol, are not brought into the venue
Monitor activities at Command, including answering telephones, greeting artists and visitors
Direct patrons to seating locations
Respond to patrons experiencing medical emergencies
Assist with inventory of merchandise during rental events as needed
May work other venues
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in: working at ASU Gammage in the front of house; providing customer service to a diverse population, including conflict resolution with respect; communicating verbally to large groups
Demonstrated knowledge of the performing arts
Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills
Essential Functions:
Utilizes computer software applications such as MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
Answers multiline telephone.
Climb stairs; walk through the seating areas and stand/bend/stoop for long periods of time.
Assist/direct patrons to exits in an emergency evacuation situation.
Detect prohibited items being brought into the building.
Greet patrons and scan tickets at entrances.
Working Environment:
.Requires standing and walking for extended periods, including walking through seating areas and climbing stairs.
May require bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 45 pounds.
Environment may include large crowds, noise, dim lighting, and fast-paced activity during events.
Requires use of computers, multiline telephones, ticket scanning equipment, and standard office software.
Schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and work at other venues as needed.
