Description
The Aircraft Mechanic III provides aircraft Maintenance Support, Management, and Leadership for T-6C aircraft.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Interface with operational customer to develop flying schedules and plan major maintenance events, completes daily and monthly operational reports, documents inventory usage, controls workflow.
- Work with other A&P Mechanics and technical representatives to trouble shoot, diagnose and solve unusual and complex maintenance problems.
- Manage aircraft maintenance safety programs and serves as a member on the Safety Committee.
- Ability to apply logic and good judgment, understand technical order diagrams and procedures, use test equipment for analysis of airframe, engine, flight control, pneudraulic, fuel, electrical/electronic systems, problems.
- Plan and schedule aircraft utilization and maintenance activity and coordinates performance with operational customer.
- Maintain accurate parts inventory.
- Assign maintenance and repair tasks and monitors/evaluates their completion.
- Supervises and performs aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations.
- Inspects aircraft structures, systems, components, and related systems.
- Supervises and performs aircraft and component inspections.
- Interprets inspection findings and determines adequacy of corrective actions.
- Perform and sign off aircraft safe for flight inspections.
- Perform launch, recovery, scheduled and unscheduled inspections/maintenance.
- Preflight/thru flight/BPO inspections, ground handling, minor maintenance, and servicing.
- Perform routine troubleshooting, installation, repair and maintenance of all electro-mechanical systems and components on the aircraft at the organizational level of maintenance.
- Services aircraft. Performs end-of-runway, post-flight, preflight, thru-flight, and phase inspections.
- Troubleshoots and maintains aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment.
- Removes and installs aircraft components.
- Experience providing OJT to technicians.
- Reviews maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems, and historical reports to ensure complete documentation.
- Removes/installs canopies, ejection seats, performs periodic maintenance of all cockpit egress and life support systems of moderate difficulty, such as seats, canopies, CADs, heating/cooling systems, utilizing hand tools.
- Inspects and operates powered and nonpowered aerospace ground equipment.
- Performs Quality Verification Inspections (QVI) as needed
- Perform and sign off aircraft safe for flight inspections.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Aircraft Maintenance Expeditor experience.
- Air Force 7/9 level Craftsman/Superintendent OR Navy/Marine Corps Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI).
- IMDS/CAMS or related Maintenance Management System experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P).
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience on T6 aircraft maintenance experience is required.
- Must have a broad working knowledge of aircraft maintenance, inspection techniques, FAA regulations, and Air Force technical publications.
- Demonstrated leadership ability combined with attention to detail.
- Must have knowledge of the scope and limitation of various categories of maintenance and their application.
- Must know theory and principles of engine operations; accessories and components; theory of flight; rigging of flight controls; electrical and electronic; pneudraulic; and mechanical principles.
- Knowledge of sheet metal, properties of materials, fuels, and oils. Ability to read, interpret and use manufacturers and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring/schematic diagrams, data tables and other specifications to determine feasibility and method to repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged components.
- Must have a working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and know how to operate portable firefighting equipment.
- Must be familiar with Maintenance Information System (MIS) to retrieve and input information.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. passport for facility credentials/authorization. NOTE: U.S. citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work site.
